This year, we have been clocking up the miles in an attempt to run the distance to Malawi! We have also used this as an opportunity to introduce children to different places along the way. These postcards are left in different children's trays and when they are discovered they are brought to assembly to be read out and update everyone on the distances we have travelled so far!
This year, we have loved connecting with our link school for sport related collaborations.
Our Year 5 class challenged Sele School to copy the balances that they had created in gymnastics. The class were delighted to share their learning in these lessons. We learned that Sele school don't have a hall like we do to take part with PE in case it's raining. When we take part in gymnastics at school, we must have the mats on the floor for safety. We learned that the pupils in our link school just do their sports outside, and don't have much equipment which they can use.
Here is what Sele School sent back to us - we couldn't believe how amazing these balances are! Our pupils rightly used one of our Learner Profile Attributes to describe the Sele pupils - risk-takers!
We sent tennis balls, sports ladders and cricket stumps and bats to Sele School so that we could share learning together.
Below you can see where we have shared gymnastics in groups between our schools. The pupils learn so much from each other and seeing the balance photos shared certainly encouraged our pupils to consider the different types of balances in their routines as seen below.
