From October 6 to November 16, 2024, our church will participate in The After Party: Toward Better Christian Politics to discuss how the Christian faith helps us navigate divisive politics and offer healing to broken relationships.
Jesus loved parties, the social kind.
But his party life messed with party lines.
This was no accident. Jesus threw social parties that deliberately messed with political party lines.
How could Jesus pull this off?
Can Christians today befriend people of differing politics?
The After Party proposes a big shift:
Can we move from the what of politics (i.e.g ideology, party, and policy) to the how of politics (i.e. spiritual values, relationship, and practices).
Hope and humility are crucial spiritual values for political discipleship under Jesus (56).
Hope enables us to believe that we can contribute positively to the world (57).
But hope needs to be balanced with humility.
Humility recognizes that we do not know everything and prioritizes service to others (65).
How much hope, and how much humility, do you have?
