As we wrap up this term, it is truly remarkable to reflect on the vast array of enriching experiences and learning opportunities our children have enjoyed. From Year 2's educational trip to Lepe Beach, delving into coastal erosion, to Year 5's fascinating journey to Asda, exploring the origins of our food. We've seen creativity flourish in Year 4's sewing and block print projects, and scientific curiosity sparked at our first-ever Science Fair. Our athletic endeavours have also been commendable, with our Year 5/6 athletics team participating in their final tournament and our Year 5/6 Boys Football team emerging victorious at the football festival held at Brockenhurst College. We are extremely proud of their hard work and accomplishments.
In addition to academics and athletics, we have also emphasised the importance of personal growth and understanding with events like the Holi Colour Throw, celebrating the Hindu Festival of Colour, and our Autism Acceptance Week initiatives. This term has been filled with countless memorable moments, such as our Mother's Day breakfast, Bikeability for Year 6, and the captivating Easter Assembly performance of "The Three Trees" by Years 3 and 4. It is evident that our children have been engaged, inspired, and challenged to grow both academically and personally.
We are grateful for the support from our school community and look forward to another exciting term ahead.

In addition to collecting ideas from our peers, the school council has been working closely with our teachers to ensure that the King's Coronation celebrations align with our curriculum and learning objectives. We believe that this will create a more meaningful and impactful experience for all pupils involved.
Some of the ideas that have been suggested include creating artwork inspired by the coronation ceremony, designing costumes for a reenactment of the event, and learning about the history and significance of the coronation in our history lessons. Each class could take on a different aspect of the celebrations and we are working hard to ensure that their contribution is both engaging and educational.
We are excited to share our plans with the rest of the school community and hope that everyone will enjoy taking part in the celebrations. The school council is dedicated to making this a truly memorable event, and we can't wait to see the hard work and creativity of our fellow pupils come to life.
We are delighted to announce that this term, we have been able to offer places in after-school clubs to over 70% of our children. We believe that extracurricular activities are an important part of a well-rounded education and provide children with valuable opportunities to learn new skills and explore their interests.
Our after-school clubs have been a huge success this term, and we owe this success to the dedication and hard work of our wonderful staff who do this for free! Miss Ramsdale and Mrs Turner led singing games, while Mrs Bundy oversaw a cooking club, where children were able to create delicious pizzas and biscuits. Mrs Roué and her son led a Sports Skills club that was hugely popular, and Miss Light had our KS1 pupils dancing in the hall.
Additionally, Mr Cooke assisted by Miss Bray prepared some of our Year 1 and 2 boys for upcoming sports events, while Mrs Isaac led a group of parents and children in sprucing up the school. Their handiwork can be seen in the beautiful planters at the front of the school. Mrs Lailey led a story and craft group where children were able to explore their creativity through painting, clay, and sewing.
On Tuesdays, we continued to host Zuko Sports, who ran football and Lego clubs. Mr Mitton ran a SATs and Squash Club to support children with additional tutoring prior to their upcoming SATs tests. These clubs have been a fantastic way for pupils to engage with one another and develop new skills
A heartfelt congratulations to the Year 5/6 Boys Football team for their outstanding performance at the football festival held at Brockenhurst College earlier this week!
The boys topped their group with an impressive victory over Hordle, a narrow loss to Orchard, and a last-minute equalizer against New Milton. This led them to Pool A, featuring all the first-place teams.
A strategic late substitution led to Sid and Ollie joining forces to score the game-winning goal against Hordle (1:0). This triumph was followed by a defensive tour de force against Calmore, which ended in a 0:0 draw. In the final match, the entire team collaborated superbly to defeat Burley 2:0, securing their position as the overall festival champions!
Kudos to:
Theo for his steadfast goalkeeping, allowing only one goal in his four games.
Rio and Sam for forming an exceptional defensive duo, supporting and motivating the entire team.
Liam for showcasing versatility, making crucial tackles and effectively holding up the play.
Jamie for demonstrating impressive midfield skills.
Jake for gaining confidence and engaging in fearless tackles.
Riley for creating a fantastic assist in the final game.
Sid for achieving a hat-trick in his first game, propelling the team forward.
Ollie for finishing as the top scorer and persevering despite a troublesome knee.
We are incredibly proud of the entire team and their achievements!
This term, children from Oakfield have participated in several sports events, demonstrating their talent and dedication. Although the stormy weather resulted in the cancellation of the football tournaments, our pupils still managed to achieve impressive results.
We are particularly proud of:
Emma, who achieved another 1st place in the girls' 2 lap race
Liam and Sid, who both earned 2nd place in their respective races.
Ollie had an exciting photo finish in the boys' 2 lap race, which we are claiming as a first-place finish!
Our pupils also excelled in team events, with the boys achieving 2nd place in the relay race. The Year 5/6 girls' football team demonstrated great teamwork, earning multiple draws throughout their matches.
We are incredibly proud of all our children who represented Oakfield at these sports events. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication are a true testament to the Oakfield community.
We had a truly heartwarming morning celebrating Mother's Day with almost 110 Mums and Motherly Figures in attendance. It was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces enjoying the special occasion.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Tanya McKechnie in the kitchen for her incredible efforts in preparing so many delicious croissants and treats for the event. Her hard work and dedication were truly appreciated by all in attendance.
The morning was filled with warmth, love, and appreciation, and we are grateful to have been able to share this special occasion with so many members of our school community. We look forward to more opportunities to come together and celebrate in the future.
We are delighted to share that we recently hosted our first-ever Science Fair, which was a resounding success! The event encouraged our children (and in the end, families) to engage in scientific experimentation and learning, either by conducting experiments at home or producing posters about scientific concepts.
During our Express Afternoon, parents were invited to visit the school and explore the work of our pupils across the classes. It was an incredible opportunity for parents to see the hard work and dedication of our pupils and to learn more about the scientific concepts they had been exploring.
The range of experiments and scientific learning on display was truly impressive, and we were thrilled to see our pupils' enthusiasm for science come to life. The fair was a fantastic showcase of our pupils' curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning.
1 - Academic success: Regular attendance at school is directly linked to better academic performance. Pupils who attend school regularly are more likely to understand the material and keep up with their peers.
2 - Improved social skills: Attending school regularly helps children develop and maintain strong relationships with classmates and teachers, which is important for their social and emotional development.
3 - Better habits and routines: Regular attendance helps pupils develop good habits and routines, which can benefit them in many areas of their life.
4 - Personal growth and development: School provides pupils with opportunities to learn new skills, explore their interests, and discover their passions. Regular attendance can help children make the most of these opportunities and reach their full potential.
5 - Exposure to diverse perspectives: Attending school exposes pupils to diverse perspectives and helps them learn to appreciate and respect people who are different from themselves. This is important for their personal growth and development.
It is important to be aware of current events, such as the recent school shootings in America and Andrew Tate (which many of our older children may be aware of). Children may be exposed to news and discussions about these events, which can cause anxiety and fear. It's essential to create a safe space for them to express their feelings and concerns, offering reassurance and support as needed.
If you need assistance or have any questions regarding monitoring your child's online activities or addressing sensitive topics, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are here to support you and your child in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for their growth and well-being.
YouTube, while being a popular source of entertainment and education, can also contain content that is not appropriate for young children.
Sometimes, seemingly innocent videos can include hidden inappropriate messages or content that is not suitable for their age group.
As parents, it is crucial for you to be vigilant in monitoring and guiding our children's viewing habits on this platform.
Here are a few recommendations for keeping your child's YouTube experience safe and age-appropriate:
Utilise YouTube Kids: This is a separate app created by YouTube that offers a more controlled environment with curated content specifically designed for children.
Monitor their watch history: Periodically check your child's viewing history to ensure they are watching age-appropriate content.
Enable Restricted Mode: This setting filters out potentially mature content that may not be suitable for all audiences.
Talk to your child: Educate them about the importance of choosing appropriate content and encourage them to ask questions or seek your guidance if they encounter something they are unsure about

Over the Easter period, we are undergoing a complete refurbishment of our kitchen to prepare for the academy taking over catering operations in September.
Tanya and Sam are thrilled about the project and can't wait for the new look, which will include new flooring, lighting, and design. We are excited about the improvements this will bring and the enhanced service that the academy will be able to offer in the future.
During the summer, we have preliminary plans to enhance the reception office area of our school. As part of these plans, we intend to fix and upgrade the front door, which has been known to be temperamental and frustrating at times. Additionally, we plan to eliminate the temporary wall that divides the office hatch and the main school entrance, creating a much more welcoming and spacious area for families to wait in, regardless of the weather conditions.
Furthermore, we plan to install new digital locks on all doors leading to the reception and year 1 classrooms, the headteacher's office, the hall, and the central offices to ensure the continued safety of our children. We are also aiming to create a designated meeting space for families, adding to the overall functionality and welcoming atmosphere of the area.
While many details are still to be confirmed, we are excited to share our current ideas and look forward to making further improvements to our school reception area.
Due to a shortage of volunteers at OPTFA recently, the project has been delayed despite their hard work in trying to secure more resources. If you are interested in supporting the project, we encourage you to contact OPTFA and consider volunteering your time.
OPTFA has been dedicated to bringing a new pond area to our community, and we are grateful for the generous contributions from our families. We have collaborated with Alex Webster Landscapes to design the ideal pond area, and despite receiving donations from local businesses and even a contribution from Councillor Penman, we are still short £2,000. However, with the assistance of The Gateway Trust, the trustees have agreed to cover the remaining cost, and the project will proceed.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has helped make this project a reality, particularly Kim from OPTFA, who has been the driving force behind this initiative. We are confident that the new pond area will be a wonderful addition to our community, and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoy it.
Wishing you all a very safe and happy Easter holiday.
