The NYU Art+Education Visionary Studio Saturday Workshop is a theme-based studio art program that addresses significant social issues and the ways in which art and artists influence society. Participating high school students choose from different themes and draw upon a rich array of innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to visually express their ideas. Classes are taught by teams of NYU graduate students who collaborate with students to consider how artists are involved in contemporary social issues and influence society.

This year, Visionary Studios moved online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students participated in 6 online class sessions exploring non-binary design, the art of appropriation, identity in a digital age, and re-imagining NYC. This final exhibition represents the wide range of media explored, and the creative ingenuity possible during times of unprecedented social constraints. Enjoy!
