I chose sneakers, no specific brand or style, because I think that’s the beauty of the object. All around you see people where sneakers, not based on race, cultural beliefs, or gender, but based on their choice as an individual. Nowadays, anyone can wear any type of sneaker and its seen as normal because slowly we have begun to take away the stereotypes that sneakers can have. Everyone can own a pair of sneakers whatever the color, style, etc. and not be judged on stereotypical standards.
I chose my bed room as in many ways it represents who I am, particularly my gender. An individual’s bedr room is quite personal, which is why it can reveal its owner’s qualities such as personality and identity. The color pink adorns the majority of my room; my walls, curtains, ceiling light, clothes, etc. I decided to present my bedroom for that very reason, its bright stereotyped color. More often than not, pink is associated with delicacy and femininity, hence to extent being a reflection of my gender identity.
I chose the shirts in my closet that in a way represented gender and different sexualities. This is because when it comes to wearing a shirt, anyone can wear any shirt whether it be for male or female. It can be styled for anyone to wear at this time. For example, I can wear my brother’s shirt but it doesn’t change my “identity”
Food is enjoyed by all cultures and genders. it’s a great way to bring people together. i chose this as my symbol because i love to cook and i hope i can host dinner parties once quarantine ends!
