Our Facilities team performs work within the residence hall between 10:00am and 7:00pm. The only exception to this is facilities emergencies (such as an urgent water leak), which may require Facilities to enter student spaces outside of those hours.
With regards to pest control, Paulson maintains a very clean atmosphere and strives to keep it that way. Paulson is reactive to reports of any insect sightings due to our location in Lower Manhattan, an ecosystem that frankly has its share of critters. Please help deter any unwanted pests by:
regularly disposing of your apartment trash multiple times per week
not leaving food to sit out for extended periods of time
maintaining a cleaning schedule with your suitemates that includes sweeping, mopping, and proper sanitation of kitchen and bathroom facilities
Paulson operates with central air conditioning. Residents do not control the cooling and heating of their suite.
Central heating does not begin until the temperature of the exterior drops to around 55 degrees for a few consecutive days. This is usually around mid to late October. Heating is turned off around mid-April after the first string of warmer days.
For air conditioning/heating concerns, please submit an online work request promptly.
Paulson is home to nearly 425 students during the academic year! Please be kind and considerate to the walls, paint, floors, furniture and general aesthetics of your space. Residents found responsible for damages to their rooms will incur damage fees.
We strongly discourage residents from using 3M hooks or adhesives on the walls, other than painter's tape. Residents should read the instructions carefully, or face possible fees for damages.
Do not put anything heavy on the shower rods which are only intended for curtains and liners. Hanging heavy toiletry bags or pulling on the rods will cause them to collapse.
There is a trash room located on each floor, which includes a trash chute and large recycling bin. Please discard any bottles, paper items, small cardboard materials and other recyclables in the recycling bin. Please break down and flatten all larger cardboard boxes and place beside the blue recycling bin. Please refrain from throwing any linens or bottles in the trash chute.
Moving out? To donate clothing items, see the Housing Works donation bin on the 11th floor.
In the rare event of a possible toilet tank overflow, go to the Resource Center (or Campus Safety desk after-hours) to alert a team member right away. Our facilities will have the matter addressed promptly.
All residence halls at NYU have a Campus Safety officer stationed at every main entrance. Residents must tap into the building with their NYU IDs to proceed through the turnstiles. For guests, please refer to our Guest Policy page.
Campus Safety may be reached 24/7 at 212-998-2222.
For your safety and comfort, be sure to pay attention to Next Stop NYU, and download the important NYU apps - NYU Mobile, Safe NYU, and NYU's Wellness Exchange.

Paulson does not have an official lost and found. Items recovered in common spaces are turned over to Campus Safety who are responsible for turning items in to the Lost & Found Department (located at 7 Washington Place). The Paulson team will turn over lost items to Campus Safety upon discovery of an item. For more information about Lost & Found items, including what is and what is not accepted, please visit this page.
If residents suspect something has been stolen from them on campus, contact Campus Safety. Residents are also welcome to file with NYPD in such circumstances. If stolen off-campus, contact the NYPD. We advise residents to keep a copy of the police report for their records.
Campus Safety may be reached 24/7 at 212-998-2222.
University responses to incidents and severe weather may, at times, require a change in access to NYU facilities and spaces.
In all cases, community members will be allowed to leave spaces that are under an access change, though they may not be allowed back in until the restriction has been lifted. More information can be found here.
NYU is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items. If you are not currently covered by your family's homeowner's or renter's insurance, you may want to consider purchasing a policy.
