If you know your room number, you can see the floor plans online to give you a sense of the layout.
Paulson has a variety of suite styles each equipped with its own bathroom. There is a small waste bin in every bedroom and shower curtains/hooks are provided in each bathroom. Microwaves and fridges are not included, but residents may bring their own as long as they follow the outside furniture policy. While there are no kitchens in suites, there is a shared kitchen located in the lounge on the seventh floor. Residents are responsible for providing their own cookware, dishes, and cutlery.
Each apartment varies in its layout and square footage, thus we are unable to best advise on how to arrange the furniture in the room, other than the layout already provided.
The University provides each resident with a bed, twin extra-long (XL) mattress, desk, desk chair, drawers, and closet/wardrobe space. Residents must provide their own bedsheets, blankets, pillows, and towels.
Suites are not equipped with any of the following items, but these are permitted:
microwaves
coffee makers
blenders
televisions
To minimize the number of trips you will need to make to bring your belongings inside and to reduce elevator traffic, we suggest you limit the belongings you are moving in at this time to those that can fit into one moving cart (25" W X 35" L and 27" deep). Pending availability, you may borrow a moving cart when you arrive.
We are unable to accept packages prior to your arrival. Please do not schedule packages for delivery prior to your move-in date.
Please also be aware that all rooms have been cleaned before residents check in. Throughout the year, however, it is each resident's responsibility to clean and maintain their suite. It will therefore be useful to bring one's own cleaning supplies for continued use throughout their stay.
The following items are prohibited:
Hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, pressure cookers, grills, air fryers, or other open flame or heating coil devices
Personal/upholstered furniture including desk/gaming chairs, headboards, storage ottomans
Air mattresses
Air conditioners, air coolers, and electric heaters
Candles or Incense
Flammable decorations including natural or artificial Christmas trees
Halogen lamps
Extension cords and multi-plug adaptors (exception: power strips with built-in surge protectors are permitted)
Portable washers and dryers
Self-propelled vehicles including skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, electric bikes, and similar devices
For further information, please refer to the Residential Life Handbook.
Any pets must be approved through the Moses Center for Student Accessibility prior to arrival.
NOTE: Decorations may NOT be mounted using masking tape, duct tape, 3M tape, putty, 3M hooks, nails, screws, or anything with a heavy adhesive that could damage walls. We ask that residents only use blue painter's tape to hang items and protect the integrity of the walls.
Each resident is provided with a university-standard bed, desk, chair, and dressers (2).
Residents are prohibited from bringing into the residence halls any items that measure more than 80 inches when adding together the length, width, and depth dimensions. Upholstered and leather furniture items are prohibited in order to prevent bed bugs from being introduced into the hall. Air mattresses are also prohibited.
Most mini-fridges meet the outside furniture requirements.
Residents may read more on furniture and other university policies.
