The Paulson Center is located in the heart of Greenwich Village. Therefore, street parking is scarce. You will not be able to park on Mercer Street or Bleecker Street on Move-In Day (August 23 and 24). Residents arriving during Move-In Weekend are advised to "Stop, Drop, & Go"!
Stop - Follow NYPD, NYU Campus Safety, and NYU Move-In Staff directions to pull your vehicle into the unloading zone.
Drop - Remove your belongings from your vehicle and set them aside on the sidewalk. Utilize a dolly/hand truck or rent a moving cart from Paulson to transport your belongings to your room.
Go! - Pull out of the temporary unloading zone and proceed to one of several parking garages in the area:
SP+ Parking | 3 Washington Square Village, New York, NY 10012
Park-it Thompson St. Parking Corp | 221 Thompson St (between Bleecker and 4th St.)
SP+ Parking | 3 Washington Square N (between Waverly Pl and 8th St)
Drivers are responsible for obeying all city street parking signage. We do not provide parking passes for street parking. NYU cannot reimburse you should you receive a parking violation.
SpotHero is offering a 15% discount up to $20 during Welcome Weekend. Use offer code NYU2029 to reserve a spot in advance.
(August 23 and August 24)
Paulson is located at 181 Mercer Street, at the corner of Mercer Street and Bleecker Street.
All students should arrive to check-in at their hall during the date and time they selected via their housing portal.
Students who arrive outside of their confirmed move-in appointment time will experience delays in retrieving their room key and entering the building. Residents who arrive outside of their confirmed move-in date will be asked to return on their designated move-in day.
If arriving by car, you should plan to stop along Mercer Street. Note that these spots are meant for drop-off and unloading only and not long-term parking on move-in days.
From there, only the residential student that is checking-in will line up at our registration table in the main lobby (on the Bleecker Street side) to retrieve their keys and sign their registration card. After this step, they will go back outside to reunite with their family and friends to bring their belongings into Paulson.
Remember – the driver will have to move their car to the nearest parking garage (of your choice) or street parking (if available).
Remember – the resident should be the one to check-in, sign their registration card, and pick up their keys.
(...if moving in beyond Move-In Weekend)
There are four simple steps to checking in:
Come through the Mercer Street entrance, approach the Campus Safety Desk, and let the Campus Safety Officer know you are checking in for the first time. They will check your name against a roster and then direct you past the turnstiles to the elevators that take you to the 6th Floor, where our residence hall starts.
Once you reach the 6th Floor, approach the Campus Safety desk there, and let the Campus Safety Officer know you are checking in for the first time. They will direct you to our Resource Center (if during business hours) or connect with a member of our Residential Life & Housing Services Team (if after-hours).
Provide a valid government ID or your NYU ID to the staff to recieve your keys, registration card, and new NYU ID. *
Sign for your keys on the registration card then proceed with moving your belongings into your room.
*To receive your new NYU ID, you must send your photo to the NYU Card Center and complete your card request prior to arrival at Paulson. Those without an ID will be provided a temporary ID that is valid for three days.
Move-in bins will be available on the 6th Floor of Paulson. Please provide a valid government ID or NYU ID to check out a bin. Our moving bins are 25" W X 35" L and 27" deep.
We ask that once you finish moving your belongings into your room that you minimize the use of elevators to reduce elevator traffic in the building during the ongoing move-in process. Use your time to get to know your roommate and/or suitemates, unpack, and get settled in your new room.
Contact your roommate. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to find your roommate. We ask you to reach out and work with your roommate or suitemates prior to arriving on campus to establish mutual agreements for a healthy living environment.
Plan to attend your mandatory first Community Meeting. You'll meet the other people on your floor, learn important information, and hear about all the fun stuff happening during NYU Welcome. More information regarding the first Community Meeting will be sent in an email by your floor's Resident Assistant (RA) prior to your arrival.
