The Student Health Center (SHC) is an award-winning healthcare facility conveniently located on the Washington Square Campus that provides comprehensive medical services designed specifically to respond to the health and mental health needs of the NYU community, and promote a healthier, safer campus.

Counseling and psychological services at SHC are confidential and provided free of charge to both full and part-time students. They include crisis intervention and short-term individual counseling for students with personal problems and referrals for those who need or desire longer-term therapy.

Health Promotion at SHC provides counseling, emergency response and health education. Students can speak with counselors in person (no appointment necessary) and 24/7 by phone or email. Crisis response coordinators are available to manage emergencies and oversee students’ care around the clock as well. Health educators provide comprehensive wellness information, advocacy and referrals on topics including alcohol/other drugs, mental and sexual health, body image and sexual assault prevention. Wellness programs include peer education, workshops, health fairs and one-on-one consultations.

The NYU Center for Sexual Misconduct Support Services can provide confidential assistance to complainants about sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking. Support includes providing information about resources and options, accompanying a complainant to rape treatment centers, medical services and campus meetings or proceedings. All Faculty are required to inform NYU’s Title IX Coordinator, Mary Signor (212-998-2352, mary.signor@nyu.edu), if a student reports any instance of sexual misconduct to you.
