My initial inquiry into well-being and lifestyle based practices began while I was living on the west coast. Southern California by its' very essence, seems to exude a wellness mentality and lifestyle. It also happens to be home of the University of Southern California, an institution spearheading lifestyle and wellness based practices. This course series provided me with foundational knowledge in the lifestyle redesign approach, as well as ways to apply the interventions for specific chronic health populations. My own practice at the time, focused primarily on pediatric physical disabilities and neurorehabilitation. However, my patient populations shared several comorbidities, specifically addressed through these programs. Moreover, I found some of the broader content and overarching principles to be relevant to caregivers, as I thought of the child within the context of the entire family unit.
