Unit Objectives

By the end of this unit, students will be able to: 

• Sight-read, improvise, and transcribe rhythms that include asymmetrical and changing meters. 

• Sight sing and improvise melodies that incorporate CTº7, chromatic modulations, enharmonic reinterpretation, altered and extended chords, and chromatic mediants. 

• Transcribe chord progressions, melodies, and outer voices in examples from the repertoire that include the harmonies above.
