FOCUS: ENVIRONMENT
As a community strives to stay sustainable over time, there exists a continuous influence over the environment it resides in. So as we explore the possibilities of improving the lives of others, how can we take deliberate actions to safe keep the integrity of the environment whilst using it to fulfil our needs and aspirations?
The teachers in this cluster will guide you through 2 weeks of cluster learning to explore different interpretations of the concept 'environment'. At the end of this module, we would like to hear your views on this overarching question:
"Does a sustainable community compromise a sustainable environment?"
There will be 2 cluster learning sessions in week 1 and 2 of the IDS period whereby students will go through 2 sessions of pre-cluster, cluster and post-cluster activities . In between the 2 cluster sessions, students are to attempt the online lessons and view the resources posted on this site in preparation for the next session. Extended activities will also be conducted online in weeks 3 and 4.
Pre-cluster Activity
Students are to read the readings or watch the videos uploaded and do a group discussion based on the questions posted by the teachers-experts. Responses to the questions are to be posted online via the platform provided.
Cluster Activities
Teachers will introduce and frame the cluster meeting whereby IDS groups will come together at the cluster sessions to explore ideas around a given central theme. The products of this discussion will be shared or viewed by other IDS groups in the cluster.
Post-cluster Activity
Students are to consolidate their thinking and views using the guiding questions and resources provided.
