Dear NYFA Faculty,
This handbook is intended to be a living document that will be updated and improved periodically with input from faculty and administration. It seeks to answer many of the questions faculty have about teaching and working at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and being part of the NYFA community.
We should acknowledge that it cannot possibly answer all questions or cover every aspect of the faculty experience at NYFA. My hope is that it provides the essential principles, clarity of information, and guidelines needed to assist faculty in navigating and succeeding in their work at NYFA.
Your Department Chairs and Departmental Handbooks will also be a major source of information.
At the request of faculty, we have attempted to create a single faculty handbook that unifies the three US campuses of NYFA, while also detailing campus specific policies which vary according to the campus. This document will also link to other key documents, such as the NYFA Employee Handbook, or the Student Conduct of Code to allow faculty to get more details on matters covered in those documents as well.
For those of you who are commencing employment with NYFA, let me extend a warm and sincere welcome on behalf of NYFA. We hope you will enjoy your work here. We are glad to have you with us.
For those of you who have been with us, thank you for your past and continued service. I extend to you my personal best wishes for your success and happiness here at NYFA. We understand that it is our employees who provide the services that our students rely upon, and who will grow and enable us to create new opportunities in the years to come.
I want to thank the handbook team for all the hard work they put into revising, updating, and unifying the handbook and to the faculty senates and workgroups that have provided input and review.
Sincerely,
Michael Young
President
