Please note the Faculty Enrichment Grant Program has been paused for the Academic Year of 2024-2025.
We hope to re-open it as soon as possible.
The New York Film Academy Faculty Enrichment Grant Program provides faculty with an opportunity to acquire new knowledge, develop new skills and share information with colleagues.
Examples of possible activities that could be funded under the Program include but are not limited to: travel to and accommodations for off-campus conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, programs, festivals, and industry panels, or other research or training directly related to the instructor’s position. Grants funded under the Program must be specifically linked to enhancing academic quality or service in the NYFA community and be focused on faculty enrichment.
The Faculty Enrichment Program may not be used to cover journal subscriptions, professional organization memberships, book purchases, computer hardware, computer software, or office supplies. Grants for artistic projects will not be funded under this Program.
Applicants must be instructors who have completed 12 months of service with an average of at least 3 courses per semester at NYFA before applying for a grant.
During the academic year, an instructor may receive funding for more than one faculty enrichment opportunity. However, the amount of funds given in support of an instructor’s faculty enrichment per year will not exceed $1,200. The funding year begins on January 1st and concludes on December 31st.
Please note the Faculty Enrichment Committee does not give retroactive payments. If an instructor is planning to apply for funding, he or she should apply well in advance of the deadline. Once a grant application is approved, it typically takes 3 to 4 weeks for an instructor to receive their grant funds.
Awards under this Program will not exceed $1200 per instructor per year (Jan 1st – Dec 31st). Approved grant funds can only be applied to events occurring in the current year.
Grant funds from the current year cannot be applied to events in the following year.
A one-page grant proposal must be submitted with the application and should explain how the proposal qualifies for the Faculty Enrichment Grant Program. Also, a detailed budget must be included for grant consideration.
Grant applications must be signed by the applicant’s Department Chair. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Grant applications are reviewed monthly. Applicants should submit proposals between the 1st and the 5th of the month in order to be reviewed and will receive a decision by the 15th of the month. Applicants should submit proposals at least 60 days prior to the activity they wish to attend.
After submitting an application, instructors will receive 4 types of feedback: Approval, Conditional Approval, Invitation to Resubmit, or Rejection. If an instructor receives an Approval, he or she will be contacted by Human Resources via email.
Conditional Approval means the instructor’s faculty enrichment endeavor will be approved providing he or she adjusts, then re-submits their application. An instructor who receives a Conditional Approval must re-submit their application within one week.
If an instructor receives an email with an Invitation to Resubmit, the application is in need of major changes and must be re-written before re-submittal.
Rejection occurs if the application is not in-line with the goals of the Program. If the application has been rejected, the instructor has a right to appeal the Committee’s decision as long as the appeal has the approval of the instructor’s department chair.
The Faculty Enrichment Committee’s goal is to fund as many grant proposals as possible, as long as grant proposals provide all required information and are within the scope of the Program.
After returning from a Faculty Enrichment Grant event, instructors must create and submit a balanced budget detailing funds received vs funds spent. The Post-Event Budget must be submitted into Paycom within 30 days of the event or all grant funds must be reimbursed.
For all instructors who receive funding under the Program, a post-event report must be completed and submitted to the Faculty Enrichment Committee within 30 days of completion of the grant activity. The report must include a brief narrative explanation of the benefit received by the applicant and the Academy as a result of funding the grant and a completed expense report using a form supplied by the committee with accompanying receipts. Grant applicants who fail to file a post-grant report within 30 days will be required to reimburse the total amount funded.
