Intellectual property refers to exclusive copyright, trademarks, patents and other legally recognized rights to intangible assets, including literary, cinematic and artistic works.
NYFA students, faculty and staff must adhere to industry standards and institutional policies regarding copyright laws, with respect to material they wish to produce.
For NYFA coursework, students may be advised not to use, or may be prohibited from using, characters, music, and other source material they do not have rights to. Students working on adaptations are encouraged to use material that is in the public domain. Students may direct any questions they have regarding appropriate use of intellectual property to faculty or administration.
