Texture was a fairly easy assignment to complete because it contains mostly up close shots of items or places. I enjoyed looking at items up close and seeing all the different textures something so simple could have. Although it was slightly hard to get a variety of pictures during school, I decided to take photos at home to get more opportunities. These pictures were definitely fun to take and helped me understand the qualities a simple picture can have. Also, this assignment was beneficial from looking at the smallest things that could change the whole aspect of a picture to the larger things that many people focus on. This assignment truly opened up my eyes in seeing all perspectives, whether it be big or small, to photographs and life.
This photo is well composed with many of the principles and elements of design. The principles of rhythm and unity help to make up the textures of the almonds. The cracks in the almonds also give the viewers a variety of the texture being shown. In addition to the principles of design, the elements of art assist in the composition of this photo. Lines and shapes give a guidance to the overall texture of this photo. The lines can been seen on the crevices of each almond, as well as the different shapes the nuts have. Overall, this image is one of my personal favorites because the lighting gives the almonds just enough shadows to create variety.
The idea of this photo came from a simple task of washing the dishes and visualizing what textures there could be. Shape, unity, variety, and emphasis all play a role in the creation of this photo. The shapes coming from the bubbles in the soap help to have a sense of texture. Also, the variety of the placements in the bubbles lead into the unity and composition of the overall texture. Lastly, the color emphasis of the sponge gives a nice contrast between the small bubbles in the soap. Therefore, this photo holds many qualities that makes up into a textured image.
The wings of a sculpted angel was all I needed to create a photo with textured. The contrast between the wings and the rest of the sculpture gives the photo a focal point with texture. I liked the lighting this photo was shot at because it gave the wings more shadows and dimension. There is also a sense of repetition and unity from the way the wings flow outwards. The elements of line and space creates the harmony between the sculpture and background. Since, the sculpture has differences in the lines shown on the wings, it gives them even more texture. As a result, this picture has multiple elements that produces the quality and depth of all aspects.
