Basic Composition was the first assignment given to us as photography I student, which helped by developing an understanding in the use of a camera. During this assignment, I was diligently trying to get good photos that were straight and would have an emphasis on a certain thing, so it would be the first thing that anyone would look at if they were to view the picture. Quite honestly, this first assignment was much harder than I thought it would be because I did not have one thing I was shooting for, it would more over trying to get a straight picture but something interesting to gravitate some attention. Therefore, as I move forward onto other assignments I can use these basic skills to help me take a great variety of photos.
In this picture, the main focal point that draws the attention of viewers is the coyote statue directly in the center. The combination of textures gives more depth because there is roughness in the rocks and a slick movement in the leaves, as well as the smooth orange wall in the background. Also, the cool color tone of the statue pops out the most because it is against a warmer tone. Therefore, the elements combine together to create a well balanced photo.
The "wet floor" sign in this photo gives a great emphasis for someone's eye to be attracted to. The lighting creates a sense of unity because there is a unique shading put onto the sign. Not all of the sign is in the bright light, so there is more depth and perception given to the focal point.
The factors brought together in this photo composes a substantial amount of intensity. The rail that comes out from the side of the photo and curves to the right gives a sense of movement. The way the sun is shining from makes the railing have a shadow and gives the photo a contrast in colors. Also, the different types of lines have a contrast with each other, since some go vertical, horizontally, and diagonally. As a result, there is rhythm and unity mashed up together for a unique picture.
