While looking at the examples for the framing assignment, it seemed like an easy concept to grasp. Yet, once I went out to shoot I had a tough time finding things to take a picture of. I definitely encounter some problems throughout the process of this assignment, this mostly contained the ideas I had yet to come up with. However, after taking multiple pictures that had definite framing, it helped me get into the groove of capturing the pictures I wanted. I have also started to explore more places around the school that I've never been to before and captured the perfect shot. Overall, this assignment ultimately challenged my abilities and ideas, but in the end it helped me become a better photographer.
In the moment of this photo, there were many elements working in collaboration to get the perfect shot. Firstly, the element of line comes into play countless of times in directory towards the letter A. They go in several different directions to help create more shape and depth into the photo. Also, the lines create a geometric shape that frames the letter A on the building and draws more attention. On the other hand, the clouds in the sky harmonizes with the colors of the grey pillars; but if the sky were to be blue, it would probably stand out against the neutral grey colors in the picture. Truly, this photo is a great representation of framing due to the angle it was shot at.
This photo has fairly little features that make up it's whole idea and aspect. The "no parking" sign is the main focal point that viewers are first drawn to. If there were no fences before the sign, there wouldn't be anything to frame. So, the fence was a great addition to a very plain shot because it creates repetition and movement all throughout. Since the photo was taken from an angle, the fences also have a unique shape to them that plays well into unity. This shot would have easily been taken from any angle if it were not for the fences that stood in the way.
A variety of the elements and principles throughout this photo can easily lead into a great conversation. Many elements of line are displayed from the catwalk and pillars, as well as the lines on the ground that adds movement. There is also a sense of balance with the amount of trees on each side of the walkway. This leads into the main emphasis of the man right in the middle of the frame. He is the focal point that gives the overall photo something different to look at, since it's not just a plain picture of a walkway being framed. Therefore, this photo is very eye-catching and creates a better overall feel of perspective.
