Angles was the second assignment that was given to us, that taught us a step-up from the previous assignment. In the beginning of this assignment, I was excited because I was given one place to shoot at and would not need to walk aimlessly around the school for some creativity to kick in. However, after a day into the assignment, I was feeling less confident because I thought I shot all the angles I could, yet I still wanted to get more photos I genuinely liked. Although, I was worried too much about getting the right amount of photos, and at the end I got more than enough to fill in my page; which helped calm my anxiousness when I didn't have to go out and shoot some more. Overall, this assignment definitely was tricky with the different angles I envisioned, it helped me learn the different perspectives someone could be viewing at.
This photo provides a combination of principles and elements that create a significant amount of diversity. The first thing that stands out is the railings because they are composed of straight lines, so the eye follows the movement downward. Also, there are straight lines from the buildings in the background and help all the lines harmonize with each other. Moving from line to space, there is a considerable amount of space between the sky and buildings. This gives the photo a sensible amount of proportional with each element; which includes a pop of color in the buildings because of the warmth it radiants for the rest of the cool tones to bounce off of. All in all, the picture was photographed nicely and gives viewers much to talk about.
Balance, movement, shape, and emphasis all get into play throughout this photo. To start, balance goes excellently because of the railing that goes straight upwards and gives the overall photo greater depth. The railing also goes into the movement principle of this photo because it's a leading line for the eye to be guide. However, it is not the complete focal point of the photo; since the light next to it is much bigger and has different colors in it, which gravitates more attention. Therefore, since the shape is unlike any of the geometric shapes in the photo, it is the greater focal point. Overall, the photo shows a prominent emphasis on the light, but when an eye wonders there is more depth to see.
This photo has a distinctive sense of depth with the perception of movement, pattern, variety, and space. At first, the eye is drawn to the stair railings, which is a leading line and creates a movement for the eye to follow. As it goes down, a shadow casts over the railing giving more darker colors to bounce off the lighter ones. The color differences leads onto the people in the background that help with the empty space that would've been there. However, these people in the background creates a perfect effect for adding something more into this photo. As a result, it produces a variety of elements for the viewer's eyes to engage in. Lastly, back to the stairs, there is a pattern in them on the railing, which overall generates a photo that harmonizes with all its elements.
