Part 1

This assignment took almost three weeks to finish because it took some time sorting through all the photos to see which was the best, since I used continuous shooting. I tried getting a variety of subject matter as well, so that my photos weren't all just of someone jumping. I think the most difficult part of the assignment was shooting in dark areas, like the gym, because I was constantly adjusting the speed so the picture would come out decently.

The clear blue background contrasts nicely with the grey and orange basketball hoop. There's a sense of unity between the ball and the net because of the way they're working together, and the texture of the net is defined.

The post Simon is jumping over acts as a leading line that draws the eye up to the subject (Simon). This photo makes subtle use of the rule of thirds, with 1/3rd being his right leg and the building and the other 2/3rds being the rest of his body. There's a good combination of geometric and organic shape.

The sharp contrasting shadows in this image create balance, and there are a lot of repeating patterns (the benches, the windows, etc.). Simon's arm acts as a leading line that aligns perfectly with the leg of the bench, and his sweater is a pop of color among the grey surroundings.
