Desktop Backgrounds

This assignment was pretty easy to complete since the only things I really had to keep in mind were my aperture and the basic rules of photography. The most difficult thing was probably staying fresh with my subjects and making sure it wasn't all just plant photography, because my first instinct for desktop backgrounds is usually flowers and other pretty nature-based things. I had to roam around the entire school to find most of the photos down below, and even took some shots over the weekend. Overall, it was a cool assignment and I might even change my background to one of these photos.

For this photo, I really like the contrasting horizontal and vertical lines because they bring some movement to the image that would otherwise be flat and boring. The rust on the metal adds color, along with the faint green of the plants in the far background. There's also a consistent repetition of the square pattern throughout the whole photo.

This photo is really cool and dynamic because of the different wood textures and random bursts of color. The rule-of-thirds can be seen with the word "coke" on the left, and there's a repetition of the different angles of the wood that give the photo an overall balance. This is also one of the photos I had to hunt down to get.

In this photo, the foreground and background are utilized well and give the photo a sense of depth. The foreground clearly shows the texture of the tree and the little leaf that stems from it, while the background provides a flat shadow. I like how the colors and shapes in this photo work together, and there's a good combination of geometric and organic shapes.
