The Color Guard is a precision drill team commonly associated with NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps) and is an integral part of our unit's duties. Its primary role is to present and display the national and organizational colors during various events, including ceremonies, school-hosted sports games, and drill competitions.
In addition to its ceremonial duties, the Color Guard engages in various performances. These performances encompass a wide range of activities, including parade performances, drill routines, and participation in school assemblies. The Color Guard's dedication and precision contribute significantly to the overall presentation and professionalism of these events.

The Color Guard fulfills a crucial role by presenting the colors at a wide spectrum of events, ranging from the everyday to the formal. Our duties encompass everything from supporting Eldorado's basketball games to participating in dignified school board meetings. We are even honored to be requested for special occasions like birthday and retirement parties.
The Color Guard holds significant importance within NJROTC for several reasons:
Honoring Tradition: The Color Guard embodies the rich tradition and heritage of the military. It pays homage to the national flag and the organizational flag, fostering a deep sense of respect for these symbols.
Symbol of Respect: The Color Guard's precision and professionalism during ceremonies and events demonstrate respect for the national flag and all that it represents, instilling a sense of patriotism in cadets.
Discipline and Teamwork: Participation in the Color Guard cultivates discipline, attention to detail, and teamwork. These skills are vital in military settings and are transferable to various aspects of cadets' lives.
Public Representation: The Color Guard serves as a public face of the NJROTC unit and the school. Their appearance at various events enhances the reputation of the program and the institution.
Community Engagement: By participating in community events, the Color Guard strengthens the bond between the NJROTC unit and the local community. It also fosters a sense of responsibility among cadets to be active and engaged citizens.
Ceremonial Duties: In addition to presenting the colors, the Color Guard plays a key role in various ceremonies, such as military ball events, Veterans Day celebrations, and graduation ceremonies. These events often hold great significance for both the school and the broader community.
All Color Guards are mandated to include the national ensign, commonly recognized as the US Flag, as their primary flag. The national ensign, a symbol of the United States, is held with utmost reverence and never dips to anything or anyone, signifying unwavering respect.
Additionally, Color Guards may feature other essential flags, such as the state flag, service flags representing different branches of the armed forces, and the POW/MIA flag, which honors prisoners of war and missing in action personnel. Furthermore, Color Guard presentations can encompass state flags from various states and even flags from other countries as needed for specific occasions or events.
The riflemen are a crucial element of the Color Guard, positioned on both the left and right sides, flanking the flags to ensure their protection. Among these riflemen, the right guard holds a significant responsibility as they lead the team in a column formation. This coordinated effort is essential to safeguard the flags and maintain their proper presentation and respect.
We compete with other schools to be able to become more recognized or noticed to increase our unit status, it also goes onto our end-of-the-year report.
We participate to perform and show off what we have accomplished within this program, and again, it goes on the end-of-the-year report.
