Many, including myself, have been obsessed with the new Disney movie “Encanto” written and directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush. This new Disney movie is about a Colombian family, The Madrigals, that possess extraordinary powers. Each family member is gifted with a special power that connects with them everyone except, Maribel. Maribel has been the “outcast” of the family due to her not being gifted any powers. She feels left out most of the time and all of her life she has spent her time wondering why she was the only one not gifted anything.
However, she doesn’t know that she actually is the one gifted with the biggest and most special power, and it’s up to her to save La Casa Madrigal, as well as the future of her family. Overall, I give this movie a 9/10, and I do recommend watching it. It was a great movie to watch with family, friends, or with a loved one. It was funny, entertaining, and even sentimental. I loved watching this movie because I could really connect on a personal level with some of the characters. I connected with Maribel because she’s very strong-headed and she doesn’t back down from an argument, and when she has her mindset on something she will go to great lengths to achieve her goal.
I also really enjoyed how it was about family, although they had their ups and downs, they managed to work things out and accept each other for who they are. I liked that because this movie showed how families are not so perfect. Yhey may look “perfect” to the public’s eye, but in reality, they have problems like everyone else.
The reason why I gave this movie a 9/10 though is because I felt like some singing scenes was not necessary. There were some good singing scenes that I did enjoy, however. But I feel like maybe it would’ve been better and looked mature if some singing scenes were cut off. Another reason why I rated this movie a 9/10 is because some characters should’ve gotten more movie spotlight They were underrated and I would’ve loved to see a backstory of some of their lives.
Other than these small critiques, I definitely recommend this movie and I will be watching it again! So next time you and your family are debating on a movie to watch, go see Encanto!
The Kite Runner is a novella written by Khaled Hosseini and has become well known among the book community. The Kite Runner is widely critiqued, particularly by parents, for its explicit content and storyline. However, its unique plot combined with the harsh reality of Afghanistan makes for an incredible book. The book also contains great character personalities that contrast with each other and help with character development.
The Kite Runner takes place in Kabul, Afghanistan, and follows the story of a young boy named Amir. Throughout Amir's childhood, he encounters many issues. The main issues are growing up with a harsh father with high expectations, internal conflict with his guilt, and experiencing traumatic situations. Readers are taken through a rollercoaster of emotions and begin to develop a sense of hatred towards Amir. One of the most controversial scenes in the book is about a traumatic event that occurs for Amir's childhood friend, Hassan. From a reader's perspective, it's controversial because of Amir's lack of intervention. Hassan is Amir's loyal childhood friend and has a very strong personality, so it creates a good contrast when compared to Amir's weak personality.
Later on, these different traumatizing situations lead to Amir's character development. As Amir grows older and moves to America for a new life, he gains the confidence to return to his hometown and face his childhood trauma. However, by the time Amir decides to return, Kabul has been taken over by the Taliban. What once was Amir's beautiful hometown, was now nothing but rubble and people struggling to survive. Amir takes on the task of looking for his childhood friend, Hassan. Unfortunately, Amir learns Hassan was killed by the Taliban and instead decides to look for his son Sohrab as a way of paying homage to Hassan. As readers observe Amir embark on this journey, they can see Amir's personality change and start to develop.
The Kite Runner includes realistic and harsh situations and environments which makes is a perfect read for historical fiction buffs. The Kite Runner is very well written from start to finish. The foreshadowing, vocabulary, and writing style make the book as great as it is. It's usually hard for me to become invested in books but The Kite Runner was extremely captivating and kept my interest from beginning to end. Overall, I think the book was beautifully written and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pete Doctor and Bob Peterson are the two directors that brought us some of our favorite Pixar movies like Wall-E, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo. In 2009, they blessed us with yet another hit, this one is called Up. This film is about Carl Fredrickson, who chooses to finally explore South America after the death of his late wife Ellie, and it is shown in the movie that Ellie’s memory is constantly cherished, and kept alive. He chose to tie thousands to millions of balloons onto his house and take flight with a boy scout named Russell who was able to grab on Carl’s porch. Along their journey they meet a thirteen-foot tall South American bird they name Kevin, later she is being protected by Carl and Russell from the antagonist, Charles Muntz, who was a famous explorer admired by Carl when he was a lot younger. They also meet Dug, the golden retriever owned by Charles that has a special collar that allows him to talk. According to IMDb, Up was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. It was the second animated film to win Best Picture; the first being Beauty and The Beast from 1991. It was the third movie to win Best Animated Feature, after Ratatouille from 2007 and Wall-E from 2008. Up is truly a great family movie that touches, moves, and thrills us. This film proves that you are never too old to live an adventure and fulfill your dreams. This is a beautiful movie and it is worth watching.

Do you want to read a book that's a little unusual and filled with drama and sci-fi? If you do you should read The Handmaid's Tale which is a futuristic dystopian novel with a little bit of suspense. Margaret Atwood truly outdid herself with this novel and she writes about some pretty serious issues hat would be considered taboo for the 1980s. She writes about how men oppress women, how it's always the women's fault if something bad happens to them, and how they strip women of their identity until they're nothing but a pretty face. The Handmaid's Tale is about Offred and how she struggles to adjust to a dystopian America where women have been stripped of all their rights and have been forced to convert to a single religion. It's also about how Offred struggles with the loss of her husband and her daughter and how she does everything she can to make sure they're safe. It's a great book to read and it leaves you questioning everything you know. Overall I would recommend this book to everyone.

The American comedy film Addams Family Values debuted on November 19, 1993. The amazing movie is still the talk of many watchers and critics; it was even made into a cartoon. In this sequel, the Addams family is up to more macabre antics as they are celebrating the arrival of their new member to the house, the youngest of their kids. However, the two oldest of the house Wednesday and Pugsley don't like the idea of having a new sibling.
Members of the crew are Gomez Addams (Raul Julia), his wife Morticia (Anjelica Huston), the siblings Wednesday (Christina Ricci), and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman). The sequel leaves the whole entire family movie in a better position since the whole audience enjoyed the movie, unlike some sequels that don't tend to be as good as the first movie. Furthermore, many watchers say that as long as you are either part of the sequel you don’t need to watch the first one since the second one doesn’t leave the story in a bad place and can definitely be enjoyed without the need to watch both. Reviews about the movie are mostly positive. There are great comments about the characters as well, especially of the kids, like how well they act their part and still make it funny. Some viewers said the soundtracks are amazing due to the fact that it makes you enjoy the music more than the original play.
The music track makes young watchers feel scared or thrilled even though they know that something funny is going to occur, which makes the watchers feel surprised after something unexpected takes place. This is a movie to watch with all the family as it appeals to all ages. It’s a fast, funny, comedy ” snappy'' movie like many viewers describe. Sometimes making it sweet is how the family obtains great communication with each other, making them united in some kind of way, and it makes them have the unconditional connection between the characters and show other families’ dilemmas. Adding to it, when the young children chose to not like their younger brother, the rest of the family tried to make them happy by showing them how loving their little brother can be, when the nanny turns evil and the parents don’t believe them, like any other dilemma of families, they solve their problems by solving it in a funny way making the audience enjoy it more.
This is a funny and entertaining movie to watch with your family. After many years, it is still very popular. Each scene and character make it much better and more unique than the last movie.
