Brief history

Archery is one of the oldest sports practiced today and has been around for many generations. Though not many know where it has truly originated from, and how it has become such a huge phenomenon around the world still till this day! The earliest archery date trails all the way back to the paleolithic period around 10,000 BC and was used in many countries /cultures including Nubian, Chinese, and Egyptian. Also, the bow was not originally used as a sport that many enjoyed, but was in fact was a tool that man had used for many purposes such as providing safety, hunting, and was even used for military and warfare. It wasn't until the late 1500s when archery first gained its positive attention. Leading to having its first-ever competition in the year 1583 in Finsbury England. Over 3,000 eager participants had participated in this competition and ended up loving and appreciating the bow and arrow even more after. Archery finally became adopted and had only become an official sport and event in the United States in the year 1900 and was even featured in the modern Olympic games.

VTCTA Archery

Now that we have gone over a brief history of Archery, and the differences between the types of bows, let's talk about Veteran's Tribute´s very own archery team. After practicing for about 4 months, our team had the opportunity of going to Nevada´s Statewide Tournament NASP(National Archery in the Schools Program). After VT poured all of their energy into this 2-hour long competition we placed second in the whole valley for the high school division with a score of 2831. Zitalic (CiCi) Salinas won 1st place in the state among all female competitors and Aurora Seberger won 4th place in the state among all females. Both Cici and Aurora qualified for the National Tournament which will happen April 29-30 in Sandy, Utah. I would also like to say thanks to both of our amazing coaches, Coach Jepsen and Coach Lange. Lastly, if you are interested in joining our archery team for the 2022-2023 season you are all welcome to join. We would love to have you!
