PROS OF YOUTH PLAYING SPORTS

Fayth Clark

Playing sports is a common hobby across the world, but nobody honestly pays attention to the pros and cons of playing these sports. There’s many different reasons why playing sports is good. These reasons may vary around health benefits, teamwork, discipline, mental toughness, and socialization. These are vastly good for school students or anyone in general.

The first reason to be explained is teamwork. This is because you learn how to work with others. You’re also able to learn how to accept the fact you’re wrong or if someone doesn’t agree with you. Teamwork allows you to not only be able to work with others or get along with them. It also allows you to be efficient in things you usually aren't efficient in. It allows you to realize different ways to make yourself more efficient at things and how you can improve upon it.

The next reason is mental toughness. Mental toughness teaches you how to overcome your problems. It sadly doesn’t make you prone to mistakes, but it helps you realize them easier and overcome them. It will give you the strength you need to move on from these mistakes and learn from them. It also provides you with the resilience to keep going despite the mistakes or problems. Additionally, it helps prevent the loss of focus and determination.

The last reason that sports are beneficial is health benefits. It helps prevent diabetes, control blood sugar, and lowers tension and stress levels. It also helps with positive energy, discipline, and other qualities of life. This gives people ways to stay healthy but also having fun. Since working out isn’t everyone's go-to option.

Nevertheless, you’re able to infer if sports is your go-to hobby to stay healthy. Based on these reasons, it doesn’t just focus on physical health, but also helps you with social health and emotional health. Playing sports will give you a fun and “easier” way to keep your life in line.

Do you enjoy playing sports? There are many pros when it comes to playing sports, but there are also a significant amount of cons as well. Some of these cons may include physical injuries, mental conditions, bullying, etc. These are things that can overall affect someone’s well being and the effects may be temporary or may even be long-lasting or permanent.

Foremost, one of the biggest issues when it comes to participating in sports is bullying. Everyone has experienced bullying in some sort of way, but it tends to be very common in sports because of disagreements. The reason for this issue is because people may disagree on which sport is the best, what position may be best within that sport, etc. Another reason for bullying could be popularity because a lot of people could possibly get jealous of your success or maybe want to do something to sabotage you.

Furthermore, there are many risks of physical injuries when you are partaking in sports. This is because some sports don’t have the right protection or the participant may make a wrong step, move, etc. Some of the main injuries in sports are strains, prains, breaking bones, concussions, and others within the same nature. In some cases, a sports player might also get paralyzed due to damage to their spine or possibly a concussion while participating actively in a sport.

Moreover, there are also mental conditions that could come with participating in a sport. This can be caused due to injuries to someone’s head, such as a concussion or even something like bullying. Injuries to the head could cause mental health disorders that affect a person's well being and their ability to function in their everyday life. Bullying could also cause someone to fall into a state of depression, form anxiety, and could also lower their self-esteem.

Predominantly, there are many negatives that can come with participating actively in sports. Some may be worse than others, but they all still affect a person in an adverse manner. These could be by causing bullying, physical injury, and possibly even mental disorders. Overall, sports seem like fun and games, but there are many conflicting possibilities when it comes to playing a sport.
