How to be successful in your sophomore year
If you failed a class last year, this is the time to recover those credits.
Talk to your counselor about signing up for night school and help you get back on track.
Please use the example to the left to make sure you have all of the correct core (English/Math/Science) classes and a schedule with 8 classes on it.
Consider joining Military Science!
ROTC provides students with opportunities including
Leadership skills
Community Service events, free transportation with free food
Annual Cadet Ball
Get into top physical fitness
Create friendships
Become familiar with the MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP
You can receive UP TO $10,000 dollars in FREE money
Must be a Nevada resident for 2+ years
Must graduate with a 3.25 GPA
Scholarship is applicable in NV schools
(CSN, NSC, UNLV, etc)
* Can sometimes transfer to other state schools.

When and why you will meet with your school counselor?
You can request to meet with your counselor at any time during the school year.
Your counselor will schedule 2 meetings with you.
The first meeting is in semester 1 - this is to review your credits and classes. Also, update your academic plan for the next 3 years.
The second meeting in semester 2 - is to review the credits you have earned, discuss credit recovery if needed and post high school options.
You will review and update your plan every year
The course of study you choose will be determined by what you want to do after high school

Begin working towards your post high school plans now!
Students can sign up to be a part of a CTE (Career Technical Education) program.
These programs require a minimum of a 2 year commitment and you MUST maintain a "B" average in your program.
Talk to your counselor if you have quesitons about one of these programs.
There are several benefits to these programs including FREE college credit.
