Location: Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, 2 West Lafayette Street, Norristown, PA 19401

On October 8th, join us for our annual Fall event at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in Norristown, PA. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the services offered by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. Our student-run Barista Buddies coffee shop will be open for your enjoyment.

The event will feature a variety of vendors covering topics such as financial planning, summer camp opportunities, social and leisure activities, autism-related services, and the transition from high school to post-secondary options. This includes independent and semi-independent living options, colleges, and more. We will also invite county and state agencies to participate.

The planning team, in cooperation with its county-wide partners, is excited to support families and educators in accessing essential services outside of the school day. We hope to see you on October 8th!

Participant registration is strongly encouraged. Families and educators are invited to attend and learn more about the services available for students with disabilities. No childcare is available. 

Agencies and organizations that support students with disabilities and their families that are invited to attend include:  School age resources for students and families with disabilities;  County, State, and Federal Program Providers including the Office of Developmental; Program, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Work Force Providers;  Postsecondary Educational and Training Programs for individuals with disabilities; Behavioral and Mental Health Providers; Summer Camp programs for students with disabilities; Community and Advocacy groups for individuals with disabilities and the families that support them; Financial and Special Needs Planners; County Supportive Services for individuals with disabilities such as transportation providers.

Commonwealth Technical Institute at the Hiram G. Andrews Center, or CTI at HGAC conducts a comprehensive program of services featuring pre-employment transition services, vocational evaluation, post-secondary education, career exploration, counseling, and independent living skills. CTI at HGAC offers individuals with or without disabilities the skills they need to live, work, and contribute in the community. These variety of services enables the individual to examine personal behavior and make positive changes in preparing for employer expectations in any work environment.

Tours, displays and demonstrations are offered on October 16, 17 and 18.   By attending this event, you will learn about the Commonwealth Technical Institute’s post secondary career and technology educational training programs. You will also gain valuable information about the Hiram G. Andrews Center’s comprehensive rehabilitation programs including Student Affairs and Transition Programs. As part of your visit, you will be provided with a 45 minute tour of the campus including classroom, training, residential and recreational areas.

Our PEAC Inclusion Conferences are for parents, administrators, educators, service providers, families, students who have disabilities, and their peers.  PEAC holds annual conferences focusing exclusively on inclusive special education in Eastern Pennsylvania! They have featured both nationally-recognized special education speakers and local experts.   IEP teams are encouraged to attend as a group.

Prepare for the upcoming election by learning about the offices, candidates, ballot measures, and voting rights. It’s perfect for voters who want to be well-prepared and confident on Election Day. The one-hour webinar will include a presentation by the Committee of 70 and a question and answer period. The Committee of Seventy is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that has promoted, supported, and facilitated government ethics and election integrity for over a century.
