The PA ABLE Savings Program (PA ABLE) is hosting four virtual sessions this October as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year’s sessions will cover personal finance and employment for individuals with disabilities. The webinars feature experts who will provide information on basic personal finance like checking, savings, and long- and short-term investing. One session will illustrate how work incentives can help individuals keep their benefits while employed, while another will feature individuals who are working and using PA ABLE accounts to save funds for the future.
Each session will run from 1:00 P.M. to 2:15 P.M., including time for questions. ASL interpreters will be provided. Find session details and register at paable.gov/webinars!
Will Hall, Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, and Diana Fishlock from the Pennsylvania Treasury Department will discuss financial basics for individuals with disabilities and their families. The PA ABLE Savings Program gives individuals with qualified disabilities a tax-free way to save for a wide range of disability-related expenses while maintaining important benefits.

The North Penn School District is hosting a Mental Health and Wellness Resource Fair to help families, community members, and employees connect with resources for the whole self. The fair will be held October 9, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Pennfield Middle School (726 Forty Foot Road, Hatfield). Please use the entrance to Pennfield Middle School off Elroy Road and park in the lot behind the bus circle.
Experts, including mental health providers, wellness coaches, nutritionists, fitness trainers, and more will be at the fair to provide information, resources, and/or interactive sessions to help with all aspects of a person’s health. The second webinar for National Disability Employment Awareness Month will talk about investing -- short-term and long-term investing, whether you're saving in a PA ABLE account, a bank or with a financial firm. Learn about the benefits and potential risks of each type of investment and how to determine how each can work best for you.
Amber Book, Program Manager at the Allegheny County Financial Empowerment Center, will discuss investment in general and employees of the Pennsylvania Treasury Department will explain PA ABLE’s investment options.

New this year: Several school districts and the MCIU Envisions program will be showcasing and selling products created by students in their transition programs. In addition, our very own Barista Buddies will be open during the event!
While we do not offer babysitting, there will be fun student activities available throughout the evening, including a balloon artist, video games, robots, and more. We will also have giveaways from vendors and student groups!
Participant registration is strongly encouraged. Families and educators are invited to attend and learn more about the services available for students with disabilities. No childcare is available.

Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) is an essential service to promote and support the employment of people with disabilities who receive SSA benefits. Norma Realpe, Community Work Incentives Coordinator with the Ticket-to-Work/WIPA team at Disability Rights PA, will present an overview of WIPA's individualized work incentives planning, which can assist individuals to make informed choices about work.

The final session of PA ABLE’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month webinar series features a panel of people with disabilities who are working and saving to live their best lives. Individuals with disabilities will discuss why it's important to them to work and how ABLE helps them achieve their personal goals. ABLE account owners are saving for cars, homes, college, rock concerts, piano lessons, education, and more.
