One of the most important questions we ask our students is, “What’s your plan?”
Are you considering joining the military, attending a college or university, entering the workforce, or taking a gap year? Thinking about life after high school can feel overwhelming, but starting early makes all the difference.
A great first step is career exploration, which begins in ninth grade during Freshman 101 with the support of our counselors. This process helps you discover your interests, strengths, and possible career paths.
Once you identify a career that interests you, the next step is to research the education and training required. Ask yourself:
Does this career require a high school diploma?
Will I need a certificate or technical training?
Is a two- or four-year college degree required?
Does it require an advanced degree, such as a master’s or doctorate?
These are excellent starting questions to guide your thinking and help you build a clear, realistic post-secondary plan. The earlier you begin exploring your options, the more confident and prepared you will feel about your future.
