Connecticut has a number of initiatives to help students and families attend college easier and more cost effectively.
Tuition free funding, called the Mary Ann Handley Award (formally PACT) is awarded to students who qualify and apply to CT State Community Colleges.
To qualify, students are, or will be, a high school graduate and reside in Connecticut. Students must complete the FAFSA, enroll in a degree or credit bearing certificate program and stay in good standing. Students can be either a full or part time student.
The Connecticut Automatic Admissions Program (CAAP) is a state initiative designed to remove barriers and increase educational access and equity for higher education. The program offers students automatic admission to participating Connecticut Colleges and Universities based on high school grade point average.
To be eligible, a CT high school senior will have either a weighted GPA of 3.0 or an unweighted GPA of 2.75. Common App will be the application students will use to take advantage of automatic admissions.

Students scoring a 3 or higher on an AP exam will receive college credit at any of the four CT state universities. For details, please review the following document from the state of CT: AP Policy
