Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial aid comes in many forms - scholarships and grants, work study, and federal or private loans.  When applying for financial aid, the first step in the process is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

FAFSA

The FAFSA application opened on January 1st and is available to fill out for the 2024-2025 school year.

Some colleges/universities require this to be completed along with the FAFSA.  There is a cost to completing the CSS Profile.  Initial cost is $25 and additional reports are $16.

This tool let's you estimate your “net price” to attend a particular college or university. Net price is the difference between the “sticker” price (full cost) to attend a specific college, minus any grants and scholarships for which you may be eligible.  Sticker price includes direct charges (tuition and fees, room and board) and indirect costs (books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses).

Many colleges participate with the NPC and this tool can be found on a college’s website, under the financial aid page.  College Board has a list of schools as well and you can find the list here.  Parents can put in their financial information and get an estimate of what financial aid package their child might receive from a particular college.
