Topic Five: Planning Process/ Creating a Multitrack Audio Production
Goal:
For students to be comfortable using appropriate production planning techniques
For students to employ these techniques
Activities:
Submit a thorough plan for an audio production that includes the appropriate planning techniques.
The Planning Process:
When you are planning to record a Multitrack audio production there are a multitude of components you should consider.
These Include:
1) The Audience
You should think about and consider who your particular soundtrack is designed for.
You should then take time to articulate some of the traits of your audience that may influence the soundtrack
2) Create a Script/StoryBoard
This step is key to minimizing recording and editing time. This is your guide that will control the whole production
This is when you map out where and how you will get all necessary audio tracks
You can plan how you will use editing features in various tracks
What materials/programs will you use (headphones, microphones, recording devices, etc.) Often keeping this more straightforward is the best route
3) Gather Background/Content Music/Sound
When gathering your sound content it is important to make sure you adhere to the rules of copyright (Any non-original content must come from a Creative Commons source. WeVideo has its own database of common sources as does the website https://freesound.org/)
Record any original audio clips you may need
Activity Eight
In a maximum of groups of two you can work on the following:
Your goal is the create a 30-second audio track covering anything of your choosing (ex. a song, a podcast, a commercial for a local business, an interview, a promotional video for baccalieu colleigate, etc.)
In this activity, you will create a thorough plan for an audio production that includes the appropriate planning techniques
This should include the 3 sections above and any other information you deem appropriate
All group members must submit this on their website
Your Audio track must have at least 3 tracks ( one of which must be an original recording)
Utilize at least one of the editing tools discussed in the previous section
Record and Create your multitrack audio track
