In today's digital age video recording is used/impacts almost everyone's day to day life. Videos are used in various fields, such as entertainment, journalism, social media, and education.
Think about the last video you viewed or even took yourself. Was the video recorded all from one angle?
Do you think the angles used to record a video could significantly impact the quality of engagement? If you answered "Yes" to the last question then you are correct. A variety of video angles can provide great benefits.
Some examples include:
a. Variety adds visual interest and prevents monotony.
b. The choice of angle can convey emotions and themes.
c. Different angles can help clarify complex scenes or actions.
There are many different types of angles used in video recording and they all have a different significance. We will focus on the following four:
a. Eye-Level Angle: The most common angle, shot at the subject's eye level.
b. Low Angle: Shot from below the subject, making them appear larger and more powerful.
c. High Angle: Shot from above the subject, making them appear smaller and less powerful.
d. Bird's-Eye View: Overhead shot, often used for showing a broader perspective.

Activity Five
In small groups( 2-3 members) or individually, use your video recording devices (cellphones) to shoot the same subject from different angles (e.g., a fellow student standing outdoors).
Don't be afraid to be as creative as possible and consider the emotional and visual impact of each angle.
When possible, use tripods to maintain steady shots. Stability is a huge piece in video recording.
When you are done upload your video to We Video and create your own video that includes the following:
A Text box introducing the type of angle you are demonstrating
A video taken at each angle
A soundtrack/video explaining how each angle changes the visual impact of the subject
Activity Six
In small groups( 2-3 members) or individually, create a short video (1-2 minutes) on a topic of your choice, using at least three different angles. You will create and edit your video using We Video and then upload a short written reflection explaining your choice of angles on your website.
