May 12: Field Day
May 20: Kindergarten End of Year Celebration
May 23: Last Day of School; Early Release at 11:45
Teacher's have administered the state required end of year mClass assessments. Your child's personalized report will come home in their yellow folder next week. Please be sure to review it and utilize the recommendations provided.
By the end of this week, all parents of Kindergarten students will receive a letter in your inbox explaining results of our reading screener. Texas state law (TEC §38.003) requires that public school students be screened and tested as appropriate for dyslexia and related disorders at appropriate times in accordance with a program approved by the State Board of Education. Each student should be screened at the end of the kindergarten year and then again during first grade. If your child was considered At Risk for future reading difficulties, such as dyslexia, and the committee is recommending a dyslexia evaluation, you will also receive a phone call from your teacher explaining next steps.
Parents are more than welcome to come for field day, however, we will not be having lunch visitors on this day.
If you did not complete the google form for your child to buy a lunch, please send your child to school with a lunch box.

Dress Code
Several activities involve water. Do not wear white shirts or shorts as they will quickly become see-through. Students may wear swimsuits underneath their clothes as they will dry off more quickly. However, no swimsuits may be visible. Students may wear swim trunks in place of shorts. Shorts should be at least mid-thigh length. Hats are encouraged as long as there are no inappropriate labels or sayings. Please have your student wear their field day shirt or another orange shirt. If you ordered a Field Day shirt, please keep a look out for it in your child's backpack. Students are encouraged to bring a change of clothes to change into after field day.
Students dressed appropriately for field day will be able to participate in the activities.
Towels
Please send students with a towel. They will leave it in their classroom and use it to dry off after field day. Be sure to write their name on the towel or the label!
Early Check-Out Procedure
As always, you MUST check your student out. If you are planning to take them home at any point, please let their homeroom teacher know so the teacher can give you a Golden Ticket. You will need to give this ticket to the front office staff. Please be sure to sign it as well. You will need to leave through the front doors of the school.
Water
While water will be available, we do encourage you to send your child with a disposable water bottle. Be sure to write their name or initials on anything they bring to help them locate it if they misplace it.

Review Courage as a family! Remember that Courage is choosing what is helpful, right, and Kind – even when it’s hard or scary. What’s something that you’ve been afraid to discuss with your student? Something that might be difficult to explain about our community or the world. Chances are they will hear about it eventually and it may come from someone who is less informed or less supportive than you. Have a Courageous conversation with your student. It could be about bullying, the environment, uncertainty, etc. Remind them that love and support are 2 tools that we can use to practice Courage. Discuss ways to practice Courage around the issue you discuss.
How do you know if you are showing Courage?
Can you share a time this week when you were able to follow directions? What did you do well?
