Cox Elementary Field Day will take place on Monday, May 12.
Field day is just around the corner and we are so excited!! Parents are welcome to come and watch their child’s field day activities but will need to pre-register (information below). Please refer to the schedule below to see when your students will be participating.
Please note that parents and siblings are not allowed to participate in field day activities.
Important information about Field Day is listed below:
Pre-Registration
All visitors will need to pre-register by filling out this form by May 7: Field Day Pre-Registration Form. Each visitor is required to fill out one form. Pre-registration will expedite the check in process. All visitors MUST check in through the front office to receive their visitor sticker. Please be sure to bring your identification in case it needs to be run through the NISD Raptor system.
Sunscreen
Students should put sunscreen on their face, arms, and legs before coming to school. Parents may reapply sunscreen to their own students but students may not share sunscreen due to possible allergy issues.
Safe Shoes
Students must wear tennis shoes for field day. For safety reasons, no sandals, water shoes, boots or Crocs of any type will be allowed. You may send an extra pair of shoes to school for your child to change into after the field day activities have concluded.
Dress Code
Several activities involve water. Do not wear white shirts or shorts as they will quickly become see-through. Students may wear swimsuits underneath their clothes as they will dry off more quickly. However, no swimsuits may be visible. Students may wear swim trunks in place of shorts. Shorts should be at least mid-thigh length. Hats are encouraged as long as there are no inappropriate labels or sayings. Please have your student wear their field day shirt or another orange shirt. If you ordered a Field Day shirt, please keep a look out for it in your child's backpack. Students are encouraged to bring a change of clothes to change into after field day.
Students dressed appropriately for field day will be able to participate in the activities.
Towels
Please send students with a towel. They will leave it in their classroom and use it to dry off after field day. Be sure to write their name on the towel or the label!
Early Check-Out Procedure
As always, you MUST check your student out. If you are planning to take them home at any point, please let their homeroom teacher know so the teacher can give you a Golden Ticket. You will need to give this ticket to the front office staff. Please be sure to sign it as well. You will need to leave through the front doors of the school.
Water
While water will be available, we do encourage you to send your child with a disposable water bottle. Be sure to write their name or initials on anything they bring to help them locate it if they misplace it.

This will be a fun morning of service with friends and an opportunity to get to know other families at Cox!
Grab a doughnut, coffee, and juice to celebrate being a family that volunteers together.
There will be tasks for all ages and abilities.
There will also be generous donations for students that join.
A few of the projects to be completed are: spreading fresh mulch in the courtyard, picking up trash, and refreshing recess equipment.
You can check the Cox PTA Facebook page for updates as they monitor the weather.
Registration for the 2025-2026 school year opened on Tuesday, April 15.
Enrollment is an annual requirement and doesn't roll over from the previous school year, but for returning families, the process is an easy three-step completion. The process is handled through Home Access Center via a guardian’s account, which results in previous registration information being completed. Enrolling your child as early as possible is one way you can help your campus and the district prepare for next school year.
Please visit www.nisdtx.org/enroll to learn more!

We all experience moments in our lives when we have to choose to do what is right and Kind. Sometimes, it’s not easy to know what choice to make. We need to have the right tools to make those decisions and be strong enough to follow through. This month's focus for Kindergarten is practicing Courage with the help of following directions.
Conversation Starters
Can you share or show what it means to have Courage?
What are the 3 steps you use to follow directions? (Practicing Strong Listening, asking questions if you need help, being more confident because you know what to do for the first step)
Morning Meeting
We will learn what courage is and how we can show it.
