As you prepare to don the cap of NIFT alumnus, we at NIFT would like to thank you for letting us being a part of your journey of growth and discovery, and feel privileged to have witnessed your transformation from a wide eyed student to a confident graduate itching to take on the world.

This world that you are embarking into is a challenging one, where the only constant is change. These are times of disruptive change, where sustainability and technology are learning to engage with each other, where assumptions and practices that seemed frozen in time are being turned on their head, where the future appears to be as exciting as it is scary and where you will find that you have to constantly reinvent yourself to remain contemporary and relevant. It is hoped that the skills, learning and experience that you have gathered over the years at NIFT would stand you in good stead to stay abreast of the crowd and to forge your own path.

The days of campus life are like moments stolen from time. You will keep returning to the memories that are invariably linked with it – the camaraderies, the endless coffee, the impossible submission deadlines, the festivities on campus, the teachers, the idiosyncrasies and the vitality of all that you sought to capture, realize and frame in your minds and your images for evermore. These memories will be a haven in tough times, and you will find that no matter what happens, your friends from the campus will be there for you when you need them.

Go out into the brave new world and make your mark. Go out and show the industry your resilience and your creativity. Go out and show the designers out there that you are innovative, you are edgy, you are magnificent. Go out and show them what it means to be a NIFTian.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Persistent questioning and healthy inquisitiveness are the first requisite for acquiring learning of any kind.” As you prepare to leave here today, I urge you to draw strength from your inheritance. During your stay at NIFT Patna, the environment communicated to you that the smallest step can create the most sweeping change. We have witnessed you all giving us the numerous recognition by standing up at various platforms be it academic or social. All the accolades that you have received have only added more moments of glory for this institution.

Today as you graduate you will have to prepare yourself for the Next level of challenges our graduating class knows that we have purposefully prepared each of you to be, thoughtful collaborators, passionate contributors and growth catalyst committed to transforming others for a better place.

Message from Chairperson- Textile Design, NIFT

I take this opportunity to introduce the graduating students of Textile Design through ‘Tantu 2017’ the final showcase of the sponsored work of Textile Design Graduates of the batch of 2013-17. It is the final outcome of their understanding, learning and hard work put-in over the last four years of study at NIFT. It is also indicative of the strong bond and symbiotic relationship between NIFT and the Indian Textile Industry. Graduation Project is also a challenge to not only prove academic or creative excellence but also inherent human qualities of patience and interpersonal skills. We at NIFT feel very sure and confident that each one of our graduate has acquired professional skills and will make their mark in the coming years by contributing significantly to the growth of textile industry and the Indian Economy.

I wish to thank Industry Sponsors for their support, Parents for their encouragement, and the Campus Directors for overall guidance. The Faculty members of the department have guided, supported and reassured each of the students and I applaud their dedicated efforts.

To the graduating students, I wish to convey that we at NIFT are proud of you and wish you all the best for their future endeavours. Follow your heart and make your dreams come true. You must dream big, set your goals and then fix time frames to achieve them. There is no point setting a goal without time frame. There are distractions and provocations aplenty, but if you have a goal and are passionate enough about it, you will stay focussed. I hope you discover peace and joy in your creative pursuits and know that this can be your greatest strength.

Congratulations to the Textile Design batch 2017!

Today is a special day. It is only possible for your continuous hard work and culmination of intelligence over the past four years. We hope it will be an occasion that you will remember fondly for the rest of your lives.

It is also an important day for the parents, partners, family and friends of you. The achievement of a degree is one that is seldom managed without the support of those nearest to us. Today is a celebration for both you and also for us as your faculty to have a wonderful batch like you.

We are also united today by a shared sense of pride in achievement. The National Institute of Fashion Technology is proud of its graduates and we hope you are equally proud to be joining a NIFT community of alumni that is over several years old. We hope you will take confidence from that long history which will definitely help you to garnish great success in life. It will be your prime responsibility to serve like torch-bearer to your followers as you are the first batch of Textile Design Department, NIFT, Patna.
