The Annual Graduation Show of Textile Design department, ‘Tantu’ is certainly a platform for the students to showcase their ‘out of the box’ ideas and concepts, transformed into immaculate design collections, comprising of textiles for home, apparel or accessories. Congratulations to all our young budding designers, who are now ready to foray into the fashion and textile industry, proficient to handle the challenges in a real-time environment.

A thought that has been enduring in my mind when it becomes real it is truly an interesting and exciting experience. For the first time in the History of NIFT Patna, Students from all the six courses are graduating together and this is one such cherished work that has its roots in the persuasion for the campus to excel. Today is a snapshot of the various activities and advancements for all associated with NIFT Patna. You are part of one of the rarest group of individuals who graduate today. As you prepare to intersect the world outside the academics, I strongly believe that all of you will contribute in your own special ways to the betterment of the environment in which you would settle down and I know that we all at NIFT will for sure be proud of each such contribution. As one gets engaged in shaping one’s goals, we usually fail to appreciate the good deeds of many people and activities that happen around. It could all change if we just pause to think of what is our contribution from which we have been gifted with this blessed life. A lot of you have consistently been recognized for your outstanding design and intellectual accomplishments. Coming from all over the country, today you have achieved the academic honors and I know that the breadth of professional opportunities that you are going to engage in will be staggering. I would like to extend my sincere and hearty thanks also, as always, to all in NIFT community for your contributions to our graduating class’s successes. Together we enter another notable page in the history where we honour the Graduates of 2018 and step into a decade of NIFT Patna.

Congratulations to the Graduating batch of 2018! Thank you for choosing NIFT to underpin your academic journey. Thank you for respecting and embracing what we offered you. I am sure when you reflect on your time here, several things will come to mind, and as time goes by, we will all cherish our best memories together! In earning this degree, you have grown as individuals, gained new experience and acquired the strong foundations and problem solving competencies that will serve you well in the future. You are well prepared to create innovations, collaborate across fields and tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges. In the coming years, I would ask that you do not forget your college, former professors, and fellow and future NIFTIANS. I encourage you to not only give back to the Institute by supporting its various activities, but also by keeping us updated on the many achievements you will experience in your careers and personal lives. Be assured, in return, that we will travel beside you and will welcome you back always. As you leave campus this month, please know that you are not leaving our community behind. You are joining a new part of it – as an alumnus of NIFT. You follow in the footsteps of over 23000, prestigious alumni, who are the beacons we have sent out from our portals, over the last three decades. I take deep pride in presenting you to the outside world as exceptional representatives of the Institute, where I am confident that each of you will make your mark not just as true professionals, but also as committed and focussed contributors to the growth of our country. I have no doubt that you will continue to serve as worthy ambassadors for NIFT, by building upon our reputation for excellence. As your Dean, I am reaching out to let you know that all of us here: faculty, staff, and administrators in NIFT are extremely proud of your successes. Message from Chairperson- Textile Design, NIFT

The design and development of textiles is the core component in the business of fashion. The textile industry demands competent professional designers who can think creatively and have the ability to respond proactively to the changing needs, keeping in view the global competition. The Textile Design curriculum of NIFT aims to meet the industry’s requirement by building in a strong textile foundation and integrating robust orientation to the best industry practices.

In an endeavour to provide industry exposure and develop product range in a realistic environment, the final year students undertake sponsored Graduation Project for a period of 18 weeks. The projects are sponsored by reputed textile mills, export houses, retail brands, designers, NGOs, DC (Handlooms) and DC (Handicrafts).

‘Tantu’, the Textile Design Graduation Show 2018 will exhibit the design collections of the Class of 2018, demonstrating their expertise in developing innovative products, yet conforming to the brief provided by the sponsor. On this red-letter day, my best wishes to the young graduates, who are geared to start a new journey, full of new avenues and opportunities!

Congratulations to graduating class of 2018!

It is with great pleasure that I write this message saluting you, the graduating class of 2018, on the occasion of your graduation from this august institution. In the Department of Textile Design, we are pleased to have offered you a curriculum that not only provided a solid grounding in theory, but also one which incorporated some of the realities of the workplace through graduation project, internships, study tours, cluster workshops. All of the efforts converged to create the thirty well-rounded, successful young futuristic textile designers for our motherland, India. Considering your knowledge about the ethics, values and principles of social work, I have a great confidence that you will keenly serve for our communities to improve the quality of their lives. Do not bend upon against challenges, it will appear and vanish as the rainbow in the sky.

Have faith on you, be brave to separate your personal and professional life and rest will be yours only, truly. Be exploring within you.

I would also like to offer special thanks to the beloved parents, relatives and friends, NIFT, Patna community for their support, sacrifice and understanding for these past four challenging at NIFT, Patna. Together now we enter another notable page in the history of our NIFT, Patna.
