Papercut is a print monitoring system that not only helps reduce print waste but also allows you to securely print to any printer or copier college-wide. It works by tracking print jobs you send to our print queues while logged into your NICC Account and releasing the print jobs when you slide your NICC ID Badge.
Log into your NICC Account on any computer at a NICC campus or center
When you have a file you wish to print, make sure to select the correct printer/copier queue

Log into your NICC Account on any computer at a NICC campus or center
When you have a file you wish to print, make sure to select the correct printer/copier queue:
Common queues to print to are:
NICC-FollowMePrint
See the example photos above for the types of printers and copiers
After you select print, you will need to go into a browser and go to print.nicc.edu
From there you will need to select Jobs Pending Release from the menu on the left
Find the print job you wish to print, and select Print under the Action section
You will need to find the printer/copier you wish to print to in the list
When you select a printer/copier in the list it will immediately print out at that printer/copier, please make sure that you know the printer/copier you wish to print to before selecting
*Please note that the naming scheme for the printers and copiers is going to be different when looking at the lists. Please use the Location section to identify the printer/copier you wish to print to. If you are still unsure of what to choose please ask a staff member in the area or the Helpdesk*
Make sure you selected the correct queue (See above)
If you selected the correct queue you will need to do the following:
After you click Print, you will then need to go over to the printer or copier and swipe the black bar on your ID badge through the card reader
The reader will blink from Green to Green if it was read correctly
The reader will blink from Green to Red if it needs to be swiped again
After you swipe you should get your print job within a few seconds
Make sure that you are logged in with your NICC Account:
If you are not logged in then the print job will not be associated to your account
If you are logged in at it still isn't printing - restart the TCP/IP box:
There should be a black box on the side of the printer/copier that has a label that says TCP/IP
On one side of the box should be a black round cable
Unplug the cable and plug it back in
From there the lights should turn off then come back
Wait for 3 lights to come back green on the box (usually takes a minute or two)
One it restarts, the printer should then start printing out your print job
Ensure to go to print.nicc.edu and sign in with your NICC username and password and check the Jobs Pending Release menu to see if your job is still there, if it is, then try a different printer or copier to release your job.
