Student Pathways Apprenticeship (SPA)

 Ohlone Student Pathways Apprenticeship

The Ohlone Student Pathways Apprenticeship Program provides specialized support to prospective students to Ohlone College and its programs. We have staff members at local schools, including James Logan High School, that can guide students through the Onboarding process. We hope to provide information, answer questions, and accompany students on their pathway to Ohlone College.

I will be available for drop-in one-on-one appointments for all students at James Logan High School. If you have students that you would like to refer to me for more information on Ohlone College and the application process, career exploration, Early College, Dual Enrollment, and more, please email me at ygutierrez5@ohlone.edu.

I look forward to working with you and your students this school year!

Sincerely,

Yessenia Gutierrez (She/ Her)

ATTENTION Juniors and Seniors:  Now Enrolling in Ohlone College Connections Program!

New Haven Unified and James Logan High School are getting ready to launch our second year of College Connections in partnership with Ohlone College. College Connections is a Middle College program for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in an innovative, dynamic model for high school. Last year, our beginning cohort of students collectively earned hundreds of college credits that transfer to the CSU and UC systems while attending high school part-time.

In the Middle College model, students take 3 classes in the morning at James Logan High School with high school instructors, then enroll in college classes at Ohlone College for their other credits. In this way, they earn college credits while fulfilling all of their graduation requirements to graduate from James Logan High School. Students remain enrolled at James Logan High School and can participate in all extracurricular activities at Logan while building their college transcript.

We have a few spaces still open for current juniors and seniors. If you are interested in the program, you can learn more by checking out the program’s website. You must reach out to Program Instructors Margo Fenzl (mfenzl@nhusd.k12.ca.us) and Carlos Sutton (csutton@nhusd.k12.ca.us) to apply. Logan classes start August 10th and Ohlone classes start August 29th. Students should continue to attend Logan classes until confirmed in the College Connections program/Ohlone classes. Contact us now to learn more and to apply to be considered for the program!

Being part of a Learning Community allows students to grow and learn as part of smaller social and academic communities within the larger Ohlone College setting.
