Meet admissions representatives from a wide range of institutions, including University of California (UC) campuses, California State Universities (CSUs), out-of-state colleges and universities, private colleges, community colleges, and military branches. This year is our 19th annual H.Y.P.H.E.E. program which is a free 6-week mxntorship program (held every Saturday in person) designed to support Latine-identifying, low-income, first-generation high school seniors with the college application process and demystify higher education. Students will engage in different workshops regarding the college admissions process and are paired with a current UC Berkeley student who can offer hands-on guidance with their college applications (C.C., U.C., C.S.U., trade school).
We strongly believe this program can benefit students at your school and their individual paths toward higher education.
We've included the application link and fliers that provide further information about the program for your convenience. The application is due September 23rd by 11:59 pm, however, we will be extending the deadline. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact: raices.k12staff@gmail.com.
Eligible Criteria:
· Applicant must attend high school or college.
· Applicant must be age 16 or older.
· Applicant must live in the Eden Area (Hayward, Cherryland, Ashland, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Fairview)
1. Write an original essay up to 100 words on the topic “Why Voting Matters. No AI assistance is allowed.

3. Deadline to submit essay: Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by 5 PM
4. A panel of judges shall select the winning essay.
5. Eden Area Indivisible shall provide a First Prize Award of $500 to the student with the winning essay.
6. Award ceremony will be held during No Kings Early Voting Rally on October 17th from 10 AM to 12 PM at Heritage Plaza located at 835 C. Street, Hayward, CA.
7. First prize winner will be invited to read his/her winning essay during the No Kings Early Voting Rally.
8. Eden Area Indivisible reserves the right to publish or share students’ essays.
