Raising Awareness
We have had a couple of reports of strangers approaching unaccompanied Nexus learners on their way home and asking inappropriate questions of behaving inappropriately. Our learners have thankfully responded in the way we would hope - told them to stop and found help.
Please take the time to talk with your child about keeping safe. We don't want to scare our children or make them think all strangers want to hurt them, however we do need them to be aware of how to keep themselves safe.
In school we have talked (in an age appropriate way) about:
Never going anywhere with stranger
Never sharing information with a stranger
Always saying 'No' if a stranger tries to talk to you or suggest you go with them
Always telling a parent or trusted adult if a stranger approaches you or tries to speak with you
Trusted adults can take different forms - and will vary depending on the situation. A trusted adult in the moment may be a Police Officer or Bus Driver, after the moment it may be a Sports Coach or Teacher.

Uniform consultation
Thank you to all of you who have shared your concerns around our uniform. We would like to consult with the community to help us going forward. Please share your views with us here.
Any changes going forward will be implemented slowly to allow both Nexus families and the supplier to make use of existing uniform and prevent waste.
Phone & Smart Watch Reminder
Primary learners are not encouraged to bring mobile phones, smart watches or electronic devices to school.
Some children bring these devices in order to communicate with parents on their journeys to and from school.
All devices must be given to homeroom teachers at the start of the day. They will be kept in a locked cupboard and returned at the end of the day. If a child needs to contact a parent/guardian during the school day they will be asked to go to Learner Services, where a member of staff will make the call on their behalf.
