There is journalism that is dry and boring. There is journalism that is long and in-depth about serious issues. And then there is journalism that is just fun. More and more, modern-day professional writers are using a style of online/magazine writing that focuses more on the reader experience: the listicle— articles that examine a topic by breaking it into parts or, as the name suggests, a list. But there’s much more to it than just formatting. In this class, students wrote their own listicles for this pop-culture website, called Top 5.
