Newtown Continuing Education creates academic and enrichment opportunities for Newtown High School students through credit-bearing and non-credit programming. The department offers flexible, year-round options to help students meet academic goals, enhance college readiness, and explore personal interests.
Programs and Services Offered:
📘 Enrichment Programs – A variety of non-credit courses designed to broaden students' experiences and interests
☀️ Credit Recovery and Acceleration Programs – Summer and year-round options to help students stay on track or get ahead academically
💵 Two-week Personal Finance Literacy course – Helps students meet state-mandated graduation requirements
🏃 Physical Education 2 course – Condensed, two-week program to satisfy PE graduation credits
🚗 Driver’s Education Resources – Accessible driving instruction and preparation
🧠 SAT Prep Classes – Test preparation courses offered throughout the school year

Virtual High School (VHS) Learning at Newtown High School
Newtown Continuing Education offers students access to the Virtual High School (VHS) Learning platform, providing a diverse array of online courses to enhance their educational experience. VHS Learning offers over 250 unique online courses, including Advanced Placement classes, credit recovery options, and enrichment electives. These courses are designed to be flexible and engaging, allowing students to expand their academic horizons beyond the traditional classroom setting.

To enroll in a VHS Learning course, students must first obtain approval from their school counselor. Once approved, enrollment is managed through the Continuing Education Department.
