CHECK OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE!
Please start the registration process online by clicking here to go to the district webpage and scroll down to New Student Enrollment.
After completing the registration online, please contact Mary Dannen (dannenm@newtown.k12.ct.us) or call the School Counseling Office at (203) 426-7651.
Below is a list of REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. These documents will need to be handed into the NHS School Counseling office.
Newtown residents who are hoping to have an out-of-district student live with them and attend NHS need to get "legal probate court documentation" giving temporary guardianship for the student to live with the Newtown resident for the semester or year. This does not apply to students living with a host family through an approved foreign exchange organization. For more information regarding that, you may contact Mark Pompano at Central Office (203) 426-7620.
If moving here from a country outside the U.S., see the registration process at the bottom of this page.
The Release of Student Information Form needs to be completed so we can contact the student's prior school and get academic information. The following documents must be received by the Counseling Office before scheduling the NHS counselor meeting:
Proof of residency: (See District Requirements)
Copy of the student’s birth certificate
Health packet completed, including immunizations and verification of a physical (available in the Nurse or School Counseling Office). If moving here from a country outside the U.S., a full physical must be performed in Connecticut PLUS a tuberculin test before entry to school;
Academic documents (current grades, transcript if applicable, and next year's classes if timely).
PER STATE OF CT, IF YOU ARE COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE U.S. AND HAVE GRADUATED FROM YOUR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN THAT COUNTRY, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ENROLL IN THE HIGH SCHOOL.
Contact Mary Dannen (dannenm@newtown.k12.ct.us) with any questions.
