All Parsons Paris students have 5 sessions covered by the university per semester.
All counselors are licensed and have completed graduate training as psychologists, social workers, or mental health counselors. We can also connect you with off-campus english-speaking psychiatrists/medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can prescribe medication if needed.
Emily Lechner
Emily is an American who has lived, studied, and worked in France since 2009. As a psychotherapist, she is dedicated to facilitating insight and transformation through empathic conversation and listening. Her training and therapeutic style is rooted in psychoanalysis, or what is commonly thought of as “talk therapy.” She doesn't work with any pre-designed protocols, but rather with what each person brings to the therapist-patient conversation on any given day. Based on each individual's needs and goals, sessions can take the form of mentorship, supportive therapy (accompaniment through a difficult experience or life event), or psychotherapy (a longer-term process of exploring patterns that hinder growth and change).
As a citizen, Emily cares deeply about issues of racial justice and the rights of women, queer, and gender-nonconforming people. As a therapist, she strives to take the whole individual, with their overlapping identities, into consideration.
Emily earned a master's degree in clinical psychology from the Université de Paris 7. She also holds a B.A. summa cum laude in French studies and comparative literature from the University of Minnesota.
