Forty-5 is our student magazine! It has been running since fall 2022. If you are interested in contributing to a future issue, contact virginiegrillet@newschool.edu
"Forty-Five began with the idea of creating a space for students to present their creations without being restricted to academic rules. One of the best aspects of working with students is that all the projects included in this issue are projects chosen by the students, something that they are truly passionate about and want to work on. A repeating theme is the importance of human connection and how it plays a role in fashion. We started in Paris, showcasing the students' work, what the city has to offer, and a guide to the city. Then we ventured to New York, focusing on the students' experiences and how it was shown in their work. Paris emphasizes a growing passion for the arts and embodies love for all the artists that have come before us. Whereas New York creates a world that grows based on development and movement, thus being known as the hub for new ideas and projects.
The overlapping goal of all the past and future is to create something tangible that showcases students' passions and curiosities. To form a magazine is to create an archive that will circulate and stay forever."
