Parsons Paris is here to support you throughout your academic journey! Contact your Academic Advisor via Starfish to schedule a meeting and browse these tabs in the meantime.
Before registering in french, you must take the placement test here!
It’s important that you fill out the form independently, so we can assess your correct level of French.
Please keep in mind that undergraduate students can take French and receive credits for it, whereas graduate students can only audit the course.
Parsons Paris offers 4 minors on our campus. You can read about the minors and the requirements by clicking here.
Please make an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss the details of the minor and how to properly plan your studies.
Once you are 100% certain you want to change your major, we can proceed!
As of the sophomore level, changing majors will have an impact on your curriculum; some of the courses you have taken will count towards your new major, some will not. it is possible that you may have to re-do a year (in general sophomore year) to align with your new major academic requirements, or that you must take additional courses (for instance sophomore courses).
Changing majors has many consequences, including potential financial impacts, and it's important to take the time to discuss it with your academic advisor.
Independent study refers to a form of academic learning or research that allows students to pursue a topic of interest outside of the regular curriculum. it provides students with the opportunity to design and undertake their own study under the guidance of a faculty member or external mentor.
Independent studies, generally counting towards program electives, must be approved by your program director and academic advisor.
Please reach out to both of them so that your project can be looked into.
If approved, a contract will be signed that details the contents of the independent study and the academic calendar (meetings with is director, assignments etc.)
When you study abroad through a program exchange, program provider or direct enrollment you must follow the procedure below so that the credits you earn while abroad properly transfer back to Parsons Paris. Failing to comply with this procedure could lead to credits not transferring back and courses having to be retaken at Parsons Paris.
TRANSFER CREDIT POLICY
You must confirm with your program director and academic advisor that the courses you plan to take are equivalents for your courses at Parsons Paris before you confirm your acceptance and attendance to any study abroad program. Detailed guides are available on the Mobility & Study Abroad subpage under the Academics tab.
You must submit the external transfer credit form before you go abroad, so that your potential transfer credits can be reviewed by The New School Registrar’s Office. This office is responsible for all matters related to transcripts, credits and degree requirements. The external transfer credit form must be requested directly from your academic advisor.
As soon as your final grades are available for your study abroad program, please request an official transcript be sent to The New School Registrar’s Office.
Students are responsible for requesting their transcript from their study abroad program institution. If the institution is from a school of record and the courses were taught in English, generally the student only needs to send the official transcript.
If the institution is a non-approved The New School study abroad program or courses were not taught in English, the transcript must be evaluated by a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member. Please note these types of evaluations can cost approximately $400-$800.
Contact either WES or IEE, a third-party NACES group that performs course-by-course evaluations. This evaluation must be received by The New School Registrar’s Office before the end of the term when you return. Failing to do so will prevent your credits from transferring.
Any specific questions about transcripts should be directed to The New School Registrar’s Office or sent to creditanddegree@newschool.edu.
