French bureaucracy can sometimes require a document to be officially translated. It must be done by an official notarized translator ("traduction assermentée") located in France.
There are many different companies in Paris that offer certified translation services, but these listed below in the grey rectangle are some that our students have worked with. The translation cost will probably be around 40 - 70 euros depending on the length/language of your document. You can request a quote beforehand if you prefer.
Remember when you contact the translation service to describe the type of document you need translated and what language it is being translated FROM into French. For example, 'from Thai into French'. You will be asked to scan your document and email it. Normally, you should be able to send your original document and receive the translation electronically.
A translator cannot translate a document that has been edited or modified. A translator cannot edit or modify a document themselves. Please make sure that any edits or modifications that may be needed are done after you have the document(s) translated.
Please note that these are not university-sponsored translation services and so we can't officially endorse or guarantee their service, but we hope they are helpful. If you have feedback about the services of these groups below or you worked with an official notarized translator in France that could be added to this list, please reach out to Student Life (studentlifeparis@newschool.edu).
