STUDY ABROAD
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOBILITY AND STUDY ABROAD?
Mobility refers to internal study abroad between Parsons Paris and The New School's Parsons School of Design in New York. This program is available to all undergraduate students and graduate students in the Fashion Studies program. Tuition for students enrolled in mobility does not change.
Study Abroad refers to study undertaken at another institution that is not part of The New School. Study abroad can be done either through exchange programs*, program providers, or directly enrolling as a visiting student. These different pathways to study abroad have different steps and requirements, so it's important to talk to your academic advisor about your desire to study abroad early in your planning. Tuition for students studying abroad varies depending on the institution you attend and whether you applied through an exchange program, a program provider, or through direct enrollment.
All Parsons Paris undergraduate students must have earned at least 60 credits in their degree program to be eligible to participate in any study abroad program.
*Not all exchange programs found in GoAbroad are applicable to Parsons Paris students. Exchange programs are highly competitive are students are encouraged to look at direct enrollment possiblities at certain exchange schools.
Undergraduate students can go on mobility to the NYC campus during their junior year for either one or two semesters.

HOW DO I APPLY TO STUDY ABROAD VIA A PROGRAM PROVIDER?
Undergraduate students can study abroad through a program provider during their junior year for either one or two semesters. A program provider is a third-party group that has developed programs in conjunction with institutions around the globe. Examples of program providers are API, CIEE, CEA CAPA, etc.
Students interested must attend the Mobility / Study Abroad information session which takes place near the beginning of each semester. Dates and times are announced via Canvas, so make sure you turn on notifications / enable emails from Canvas in your settings so you don't miss out.
Your tuition will depend on the program you choose and its duration. You will pay the program provider directly ; you will need to work with the program provider to understand how to pay, when to pay and if payment plans are possible or not.

HOW DO I APPLY TO STUDY ABROAD VIA DIRECT ENROLLMENT?
Other opportunities for studying abroad exist through programs that are vetted by our program directors. Although not affiliated with The New School, these programs offer additional ways for Parsons Paris students to study abroad.
When applying to study abroad with a non-provider program, you are directly applying to study at another institution as a Visiting Student. This is called direct enrollment. You will need to familiarize yourself with the application requirements of the institution in which you would like to study. You academic advisor can provide guidance on the steps of direct enrollment and can provide official documentation, such as records of your completed coursework, but it is your responsibility to keep track of deadlines, application requirements, and financial information related to your selected study abroad program.
