Literacy Assistance Center Job Board

The Literacy Assistance Center's Job Board posts ESOL positions open at different community-based organizations and sometimes at the three library systems or community colleges in New York City.

EC English

EC has English schools in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Malta, and South Africa. EC also has a virtual-only program, EC Virtual, that is currently hiring. EF Education

EF is an international language school with offices and schools across the world. OHC Oxford House

OHC offers courses ranging from; General English, General English Plus, 1-1 English, Intensive English, Conversation & Pronunciation, IELTS Examination Preparation, CELTA Cambridge Examination (FCE & CAE), TOEFL Exam & English for Business Success. OHC is hiring ESL instructors on a rolling basis for their NYC (Chelsea), Boston, and Miami locations. Instructors are provided a comprehensive curriculum for these in-person positions. Some teaching experience and a ~120 hour CELTA or TESOL certificate is required. Rennert English Language School

Based in New York, Rennert is located in Midtown, Manhattan. Rennert offers intensive general as well as business English programs and caters to primarily adult, temporary visitors to New York. Rennert seeks ESL teachers on a rolling basis with a Bachelor’s degree (in any subject; required), a teaching qualification such as a TESOL/ TEFL/ CELTA (required), and experience teaching adults (preferred). Experience teaching TOEFL preparation a bonus. Applicants must be available to teach from Monday to Friday and be legally permitted to work in the U.S. (able to complete an I-9 and W-4 form). The normal classes are from 9:00-12:40PM Monday - Friday. The total hours for teaching a morning group class comes to around 20 hours per week. There is always the possibility of adding more hours in the afternoons teaching speaking workshops and/or private lessons whenever available. More information on applying can be found here.

Brooklyn School of Languages

BSL is a local, independent English language school in Dumbo, Brooklyn offering general English classes to tourists and short-term visitors. Aside from classes, BSL organizes locally-owned homestays and shared living options, as well as neighborhood-focused activities on the New York lifestyle and the Brooklyn culture.

Zoni Language Centers

Zoni Language Centers has many programs and courses such as: Standard Intensive English, Premium Intensive, Semi Intensive English, English Proficiency Exam Preparation (TOEFL, IELTS, and Cambridge), ESL for Business, and English for Specific Purposes. Zoni regularly seeks both part-time and full-time ESL teachers at their New York, New Jersey, and Florida locations. A Bachelor's degree and relevant certification are required while teaching experience is preferred. Benefits include health and dental insurance and PTO.

International teaching opportunities

JET Program USA sends participants from around the globe to work in schools, boards of education, and government offices throughout Japan.

GaijinPot is a Japanese job board dedicated to English teaching-related placements.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant programs place participants in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to the local English teachers. ETAs help teach English language while serving as cultural ambassadors for the U.S.

The PeaceCorps has numerous English teaching-related volunteer opportunities at locations all over the world. As a Volunteer, you will live and work on locally prioritized projects, receiving a stipend and other support as you are immersed in a new culture.

Teach English in South Korea with EPIK, a Korean Ministry of Education-affiliated program dedicated to improving the English-speaking abilities of Korean students and teachers, developing cultural exchange between Korea and abroad, and introducing new teaching methods into the Korean education system.
