The goal of the BA/BFA peer mentorship initiative is to create connections between incoming BAFA students and their upper-class peers. Incoming first year students will be paired with a continuing BAFA student, who will offer them student-to-student role modeling, support, and encouragement; this may take the form of answering their questions in late summer, meeting up for coffee early in the semester, showing them around campus - generally being a friendly and supportive presence as they begin their time at The New School.
Applications for peer mentorship are released each May for the following fall semester.
The general mission of the BA/BFA Student Advisory Committee is to act as a voice and a conduit of students’ thoughts, ideas, and needs to the BA/BFA advising team, and to generate value-adding contributions in advancing the BA/BFA student experience. These students have the unique opportunity to provide guidance for the future of the BAFA community. They will help establish goals and ideation for future BAFA advising and programming.
